Posted 5;11pm bells π’ Tuezday 3rd February 2026
The report below iz very late coz of NUFCs hectic 2 games a week schedule and we simply havvint had the time to fit it into wor reports until now!---Ower 2 weeks late, but this IZ The Geordie Times---Wot did you expect!? ⬇️
Ground number 76 visited for a Dunston game
Bradley Football Development Centre, Grimsby
Date of 1st Visit: 24th January 2026
Grimsby Borough 0
Dunston 1
Northern Premier League East Division
Attendance: 190 (Including aboot 25 Dunston fans and committee)
“DO YOU COME FROM GRIMSBY TOWN?”
Az The Toon wirnt playin til Sunday, we decided to cadge a lift on the Dunston team bus to Grimsby,(£10) where they were playin Grimsby Boro! (A new groond for ‘The mad-sad groundhopper’!)
We left Dunston’s groond at 10am π bells and arrived at wor destination some 3 and a qwaataa hours later!
The coach woz full and aa ended up sitting next to an old gadgie who ad never met before! He never shut up the entire jorney and kept telling me the cricket score from an Inglind game and racin results!
Despite me telling him him that aa didn’t like cricket or racin he persisted in telling me the scores and racin results!
“Ingland are 75 for 1 and the 2nd favourite at Kempton won the race!” etc!
He honestly ‘did mee heed in’ πand aa woz glad to get off the fcukin bus!
There woz a boozer doon the road from the groond caalled The Bradley and so (az yih dee!) we heeded for it, for the pre match liquid lubrications! ⬇️
Another bit of ‘tonsil tickling’ took place in the Grimsby clubhoose just before kick off ⬇️
THERE ARE HOSPITALITY SUITES—AND HOSPITALITY SUITES! π΅π«
Az everyone knows Grimsby Town FC play in Cleethorpes (the town adjoining Grimsby) And the last time aa woz in these neck of the woods, it woz to see Dunston play Cleethorpes Town in Cleethorpes a couple of seasons ago!
However! Aa told mee mates that aa woz gannin to Grimsby after wor game at Wolves the other week and mentioned that ad been to Cleethorpes Town!
"They play in Grimsby!", one of them, who wants to remain anonymous caalled ‘Sarney Steve’ said!
"No! they play in Cleethorpes!" said I !
So aa ‘googled it’ and sure enough he woz reet—-they DEE play in Grimsby???
How mad iz that??? Grimsby Town play in Cleethorpes and Cleethorpes Town play in Grimsby???
In other words, aa thought as woz watching a match in Cleethorpes 2 seasons ago, when aa woz actually in a different town! HELP!
Aa thought ad better check to see wot town aa woz actually in this time—and according to ‘google’ Grimsby Borough FC actually DEE play in GRIMSBY! (Thank God for that!)
"I HEAR THE SOUND OF DISTANT DRUMS!" π₯
Anyway!—the game kicked off in freeezin conditions beneath the blue sky! (ie: It woz grim in Grimsby!) (sic!)
Dunston started off well and were on the front foot, but couldnt find the back of the net despite chances galore from Pearson, Sado, Swailes and Turner! Grimsby struggled for lang period and rarely ventured into the opposition half!
The Dunston Ultras ⬆️aged between 10 and 16 were in good voice and they had a drum behind the goal which they banged contiunously UNTIL a 'jobsworth' Grimsby official told them to stop, az they didnt want to upset the naaybaaz!----Even though the nearest hooses were half a mile away across a field! (They must have very good hearin in Grimsby!) ⬇️
HT 0-0 (Clubhoose time!)
The deadlock woz finally broken 8 minutes after the restart when 'The Bad Blue Boys' in the aall Blue strip (wot else?) took the lead in bazzaar circumstances, when a defensive clearance hit Dunston's Dan Wilson on hiz back and the baall rolled ower the goal-line!
Wil Shaw nearly doubled the visitors lead, but hiz shot went just wide of the post!
And then Grimsby finally 'woke up' and Richardson had a shot, which woz brilliantly saved by debutant goalie Tyler Jones, who had just signed on a loan deal from NUFCs U18s team! ⬇️
A goalbound heeder woz then cleared off the line by Dunston's McDonald and The Bad Blue Boys held on for the 3 points which cements them into a play off position in 4th place in the table!
*The Bad Blue Boys, an explanation! 29 years ago NUFC played Dinamo Zagreb away in The Champions Leegue!
We went into one of their boozers where their 'notorious Ultras, known az 'The Bad Blue Boys' frequented! Thankfully we got on quite well with them and az Dinamo play in aall blue, like Dunston, we nicknamed Dunston 'The Bad Blue Boys' when we got home---and the name stuck! (So now yih naa!)
The jorney back woz a bit quieter, az the old gadgie next to me eventually fell asleep! “HORRAY FOR SMAALL MERCIES!”ππ»
“WE WOZ THERE!” ⬇️
