THE TOON 0 MOAN U TIMEWASTERS 2 *** LEEGUE CUP FINAL 2023

Posted from '1:30pm 🔔 bells' onwards, Munday 27th February 2023

"GET THE FLAGS OOT FOR THE LADS!"

"THE WEMBLEY JINX STRIKES YET AGAIN!"

Nine times I have seen The Toon play at Wembley in competitive games and  nine times we have lost!

It's got to the stage where I 'Fink' that I will never see us win there and I hate the f*****' place!

1: 1974 Lost 0-3 to Livaapool in the FA Cup final

2: 1976 Lost 1-2 to Man City in the Leegue Cup final

3: 1996 Lost 0-4 to Moan U in Charity Sheeeld

4: 1998 Lost 0-2 to The Arse in the FA Cup final

5: 1999 Lost 0-2 to Moan U in the FA Cup final

6: 2000 Lost 1-2 to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi final

7: 2017-18 Lost 0-1 to Sporz in the Premyaa Leegue

8: 2018-19 Lost 0-1 to Sporz in the Premyaa Leegue

9: 2023 Lost 0-2 to Moan U in the Leegue Cup final

PS: I've aalso been to Wembley twice in the 100 year centenary of The Futbaall Leegue in 1988 when we played 2 games of 20 mins each way against Livaapoool (actually WON 1-0 on pens)  but lost 0-2 to Tranmere Rovers at the next stage!---Az these were anly 40 minute friendly games, they don't reeely cooont!)

NUFC started off the brighter az we kicked towards the Moan U end and held wor own until the 33rd minutes when the 'bent' ref gave Moan U a free kick when the baall woz cleanly won?

The free kick woz taken by Luke Shaw and hiz centre woz heeded home by Casimero past debutant keeper Loris Karius to put us 0-1 behind!----But woz it offside az well?????

And then in the 40th minute they doubled their lead when Marcus Rashford's shot woz deflected ower Karius by Sven Botman to break wor hearts az the realisation that we would probably lose again filled me with dread!

The Moan U manager had complained before the match that we would try and slow the game doon, but it woz hiz own team who took ages to take throw ins and pinch a few yards in the process az they took them from the wrang place time and time again! (With neethaa the ref or linesmen intervenin to stop this!)  They did the same with goal kicks, muct to the annoyance of the 33,000 Toon fans present!

The Moan U fans constantly sang songs aboot Alan Shearer bein a sad Geordie B******D, rather than sing songs in support of their own team!

Az the final whistle blew we made for Wembley Stadium station to catch the train back to Aylesbury where we were stayin----and to wor amazement there were aalready 100s of plastic Moan U fans in the train queue in front of us, not even stayin to watch the end of the game or watchin them lift the cup????? FANS? dont make me laff! (Come to Fink of it, they did the same in the 1999 FA Cup final where 1,000s of them left before the trophy presentation!

The Toon flag display woz brilliant az the Moan U fans half heartedly waved the scarves that had been left on their seats!

Aagain we outsung them, (az we did in 1999) but to nee avail, az outsingin your rivals doesn't win yoo cups, az we succumbed to defeat number nine in a row at the home of futbaall!

Attendance: 87,306 (33,000 Toon and 33,000 Moan U)

We got back to Aylesbury where mee 9 seater canny tranny woz parked and heeded back to Tyneside ---a jorney of 5 and a half hours and a roond trip of 575 miles!----Arrivin back at '2:00am bells'!

Anothaa cup final to forget a'm afraid!

THE TOON V MOAN U *** LEEGUE CUP FINAL WEMBLEY ON SUNDAY!

Posted from '1:35pm🔔 bells', onwards, Friday 24th February 2023

Whey! The big day iz aalmost upon us az the norves start jangling 2 day before the game!

Hord reports from mee mate 'Davy the Silver Fox' that the trains to King's Cross this morning are rammed!

We are travellin doon tomorrow in mee 9 seater tranny van and are stoppin in Aylesbury, then catchin a direct train from there to Wembley which takes aboot an hour!

There iz 'nee way' that we would be gannin anywhere near KX coz it will be manic on Saturday and Sunday, with and estimated 30,000 travellin with nee tickets! Add on the 33,000 who dee have one and yoo can see where 'we are comin from'!

Some of the media have aalready got us beat and on Wedinzday az aa listened to the Livaapoool v Real Madrid game on mee truck radio the Commentator said: "Alisson ( the Livaapoool goalie) has made a horrendous misstayk for Real's 2nd goal! ---I wonder if Loris Karius iz watching!" (Wor 4th choice goalie who will play in the final az Pope of course iz suspended after gettin sent off v Livaapoool last week!)  The question on everybodys lips iz!----Why the hell would he mention that???

Aye! Moan U are odds on to beat us az we are the underdogs yet again for a cup final!

But The Toon are made of sterner stuff theeeze days and hopefully Karius haz a blinder and the rest torn up az well!

There are nee injuries to report and we are 'up for it' for sure!

Block 126, row 36, here we come!

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE IN THESE 2 WEMBLEY PROGS!

BEFORE NICK POPE GOT SUSPENDED

AFTER NICK POPE GOT SUSPENDED!

OTHAA NEWS!

Shud be ashamed of himsel--A former Toon player az well!😬

Footnote: Moan U manager Ten Haag iz moaninin already, sayin that we are annoying holding the game up and wastin time and asks the officials to crack doon on any time wastin by us!

And the game hazzint even kicked off yet!--- Now yoo know why we caall them 'Moan U'!

Match and boozer report on Munday! -- let's hope it's a good one!🙏

THE TOON 0 THE LIVERBIRDS 2 *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2022-2023

Posted 'high noon bells' Sunday 19th February 2023

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BOBBY ROBSON'S 90th BORTHDAY THIS WEEK AND 'WOR FLAGS' HAD A SPECIAL FLAG MADE FOR HIM!

"A CATCH 22 SITUATION!"

Tributes were made to former player Christian Atsu who tragically died in the Turkey earthquake--and to Bobby Robson with a giant flag in The East Stand----

It aall started off so well az NUFC attacked The Leazes End in the forst half with Miggy Almiron missin a great chance orly on!

Totally against the run of play Livaapoool took the lead through Nunez from their forst attack, when he ran through to beat Nick Pope in The Toon goal after 10 minutes!--VAR looked for a possible offside, but after a couple of minutes the goal woz given!

7 mins later and it woz 0-2 to wor visitors when a Mo Salah through baall foond Gakpo for fired home!---VAR again looked for a possible offside but sadly the goal stood!

And then total disaster in the 22nd minute when Nick Pope caught the baall ootside the box az Salah tried to get it off him!

He woz duly sent off and the forst thing the old guy who sits beside mee said woz, "He'll miss the cup final next week!"

Martin Dubravka took Pope's place in goal, but HE iz cup tied coz he played in a Leegue Cup tie while on loan at final opponents MAN U!  Yi couldnt make it up!----A 'catch 22' situation for certain! (sic!)

With Karl Darlow on loan at Hull, this meeenz that Eddie Howe haz the limited choice of resorve keepers Mark Gillespie and Loris Karius to play at Wembley next week, in from of 90,000, when they are used to playin in front of a few hundred at resorve games, or non at aall in practice games!

With just 10 men we fought hard and had quite a few chances to pull a goal back, but chances went 'abeggin'

Wor best chance came in the 82nd minute az we attacked The Gallowgate goal when subs Anthony Gordon and Callum Wilson combined, but somehow Wilson's shot woz put wide by The Liverbirds goalie's trailin' leg!

The defeat meenz that wor lang unbeaten run iz ower---havin last lost to Livaapoool way back in August!----Indeed Livaapoool have inflicted wor last 3 defeats, gannin back to last April!  Just 3 defeats since then in the Premyaa Leegue---and aall of them to The Mickey Mousers!

*Attendance: 52,271 (3,200 Mickey Mousers)

THE TOON V THE LIVERBIRDS*** TEATIME SATURDAY ("TELL MEE MAA, MEE MAA, AA WON'T BE HOME FOR TEA!")(AGAIN!)

Posted 'high noon 🔔 bells' Saturday 18th February 2023

SJP FROM GALLOWGATE.    NOW THE CLUB HAVE BOUGHT THE LAND BACK, WE WILL HAVE THIS STUNNIN' VIEW OF THE GROOND FOREVER MORE!                                 (ie: Nee ugly tower blocks in the way to spoil the view!)

"WE WANT REVENGE!"😬

The Liverbirds are the anly team to beat NUFC this season!

A disallowed 'offside' goal from Isak when  he woz 'onside' and a ridiculous 8 mins stoppage time winner from them cost us the game way back in August! (Klopp had wined on to the officials to add extra time---and they did!)

They were aalso the last team to beat us at home way back (again) to last April!---"WE WANT REVENGE!"😬

A win would put us 12 points clear of them in the race for a Champions Leegue place next season, but defeat would close the gap to just 6 points!--A '6 pointer' for certain!

Again we will be withoot Bruno who iz serving the last of a 3 game suspension, but Callum Wilson looks set to start!

Aalso available are Miggy Almiron and St. Max who have resumed trainin after nigglin injuries!

A full Geordie Times match report will appear here on Sunday!--Az per usual  "Watch this space!"

PS  A 'WOR FLAGS' TRIBUTE TO BOBBY ROBSON WILL BE UNFURLED BEFORE THE MATCH, CELEBRATIN' WOT WUD BE HIZ 90TH BORTHDAY!

FOOTNOTE: Some very sad and terrible news!----Former Toon player Christian Atsu haz been foond dead underneath the rubble in the city of Hatay, followin the Turkey earthquake!

RIP CHRISTIAN! 🕇

There will be a minutes silence before the game which kicks off at '5:30 bells'

And here iz one of Christian's last ever tweets!

"HE'S ONE OF OUR OWN!"

EXETER CITY GET 12 TICKETS FOR LEEGUE CUP FINAL!

Posted 'high noon bells' Wedinzday 15th February 2023

The team who play at another St. James' Park have been allocated 12 tickets for the Leegue Cup final!  Wot possible interest iz there from their fans when NUFC and MUFC fans are desperate for tickets!

Both clubs have received just under 33,000 tickets each, which iz not enough of course---even for some who are season ticket holders!

It's not just Exeter of course, az the other 90 Leegue clubs get exactly the same allocation az well!

Thats 12 X 90 = 1,080 tickets to non participatin' clubs, plus another 24,000 or so to Wembley Stadium bond holders, corporate guests, etc!

Nee doubt that those 25,000 tickets will be gannin for £1,000 plus to Toon fans who were unsuccessful in the ballot and desperate to gan!

IT'S SCANDALOUS!

BOURNEMOOOTH 1 THE TOON 1 *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2022--2023

Posted on the way back from Bournemoooth on mee mobile telling bone from '10:30am 🔔 bells' onwards Sunday 12th February 2023 (BRIEF REPORT!)

"BEFORE THE LORD MAYORS SHOW!"

A thoroughly depressing performance from NUFC who played in wor white and green change kit!

From the word 'go' there were misplaced passes from wor lot and we just couldnt get oot of the blocks az we attacked the far goal to wor right!.

The home side had scored just ONE solitary goal since the World Cup restart, while we had the best defensive record in the Leegue!

So guess wot?---Bournemoooth opened the scorin(of course!) in the 30th minute when a corner woz floated in and ended up at the feet of Senesi who fired home from close range!

We huffed and puffed and just az it looked az though we would gan in one-nil doon at the break, up stepped Miggy Almiron to hit a sweet shot across the box from a deflected Longstaff shot, to levels things, bang on half time!

The 2nd half woz just az bad and The Toon were lucky not to concede near the end, when a back heal from a Bournemoooth forward woz cleared off the line by Trippier to save the day!

Another game undefeated, 17 now!, but we were p*ss poor to be honest!

The Liverbirds are next at SJP and then the 'Big one' at Wembley in a fortneets time in the Leegue Cup final v Moan U!

Attendance: 10,419 (1,300 Toon fans)

PS: Toon fans paid tribute to former player Cristian Atsu, who iz unaccounted for in the Turkey earthquake
