THE AWAY DAY NIGHTMARE CONTINUES INTO A 3RD SEASON!

 Posted 📫'high noon 🔔bells' Tuesday 29th Joon 2🥶21

News that York City have been forced to deny entry to Toon fans in wor forthcoming friendly next month at their new groond, haz sent shock waves through 'The NUFC mad-sad groundhoppers' fan base!!! (See above!)

Indeed, anly 2,000 home fans will be allowed into their 8,500 capacity stadium, denyin them much needed revenue! (Some mad-sad groundhoppers (includin' 'me') have even looked at prices of York season tickets to get in, but were put off, az they are nearly £300 for an adult!)

York, would of course 💘love to welcome up to 3,000 of us, but The City of York advisory committee have said that 6,500 seats must remain empty for them to receive a safety covid certificate!

Pure 😠madness if yoo ask us, az huge 60,000 plus crowds are to be allowed into Wembley for the Euro semi finals in the very same week! (Many of them from othaa European countries!)

Nothing makes sense anymore in this 🤪crazy mixed up country!🥶

Meeenwhile--and taakin of Wembley---there's a certain Euro game there at '5:00 bells' toonet when Ing-er-land take on Jawmany for a place in the qwaataa finals!---In front of 45,000 fans! Where's the logic??? (nee Jawmans allowed!)

Ing-er-🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿land expects!

Updated '10:30am bells' Wedinzday

For once Ing-er-land didn't let us doon and won 2-0 with goals from Sterling and Kane to set up a qwaataa final with The Ukraine on Saturday neet!

Ing-er-land expected and delivered!!!

SAME TIME---DIFFERENT PLACE!-----

Posted 'high noon bells' Tuesday 22nd Joon 2021

YORK (top) OR HARROGATE?

"YOO CAN'T BE IN 2 PLACES AT THE SAME TIME!"

Harrogate have conformed to NUFC that the kick off time against us iz at '2:00 bells' on Sunday 18th July!----Exactly the same time az wor friendly at York's new stadium! (The 25 man 1st team squad will be split between the 2 games)

Az yoo cant be in 2 places at the same time The NUFC mad-sad groundhoppers have opted for the York game az we have never been to their new groond---but we HAVE been to Harrogate many moons ago for a NUFC resorve game!

However!---az both games take place ONE DAY before the lockdoon ends, it iz uncertain wethaa we will be allowed to travel doon!?

The sensible thing would be to move both games to 'freedom day' to ensure that az many fans az possible can attend!

But thats tooo simple ----isnt it!?

THE MONKEY HANGERS 5 THE FAWLTY TOWERS MOB 4

Posted 'high noon 🔔bells' munday 21st Joon 2021

Somewhere in Hartlepoool, many moons ago!

Congratulations to Hartlepoool for winnin the penalty shootout v Torquay 5-4 at Ashton Gate!

Many Toon fans watched on from the 3 Bulls and their woz a loud cheer when 'The Fawlty Towers Mob' missed their last penalty to send 'The Monkey 🐒Hangers' back to Leegue 2 from non leegue obscurity---And just one leegue below the SMBs 15 miles up the A19!

Well done Poool!

Explanation to those of yoo who live ootside north east England:

In the orly 19th century a foreign ship woz seized in Hartlepoool and a monkey woz captured!

Az they'd never seen a monkey before, the locals thought the monkey woz a foreign spy and hung him from the gallows on the quayside!

Honest, it's TRUE!

GEORDIE TIMES EXCLUUUSIVE! *** NEW YORK AWAY FRIENDLY ADDED TO THE LIST!

 Posted 'high noon🔔bells' Saturday 19th Joon 2021

"NO! NOT THAT NEW YORK!"

Sensational news reaches The Geordie Times that a new NUFC pre season friendlies haz been added to the list!

We are off to New York! "Er!" Not the one in the USA, but the one in sooth Yorkshire where Rotherham play!

The game will take place on Tuesday 17th July at their New York Stadium groond with a '7:00 🔔s kick off!

The reason it's caalled New York Stadium iz because they play in a district of Rotherham caalled New York!

And the reason for THAT name iz because a foundry in Rotherham used to make the distinctive fire 🔥hydrants for the New York in America!

Honest, it's TRUE!

     Made in Rotherham 🇬🇧UK

Meeeenwhile!  Wor forst game of the new Premyaa Leegue season v The Jellied Eels Mob of West Ham haz been moved to Sunday 15th August with a '2:00 bells' kick off time!  (Live on SKY)

The forst of many nee doubt to be moved for live telly!

RAFA BLUES!

 Posted 'high noon🔔bells' Friday 18th Joon 2021

News that Rafa Benitez could be Evaatin's new manager, haz not went doon well with their fans! (He once caalled them a 'small club' when he woz Liverpoool's manager and the blue half of Morseyside havvint forgot!)

Indeed, bedsheet banners have been put up at the fence next to Goodison Park, telling him in nee uncertain terms that he iz not wanted at their club!

It's unreal and ironic that NUFC fans would welcome Rafa back with open arms, but most Evaatin fans can't stand him!

Great expectations???

Meeenwhile in othaa news, there's a certain international 'derby match' gannin on at Wembley tooneet!

Posted 'high noon 🔔bells' Tuesday 15th Joon 2021

LNER STADIUM, YORK

Az expected 'freedom day' haz been put back 4 weeks and will end on Munday July 19th (hoping against hope!)

Wot that meenz for wor 2 friendlies at York and Harrogate which are due to be played the day before, iz anybody's guess?

Surely they will move both games to 'freedom day', so that more fans can attend, az at present anly 2,000 or so will be let in to eethaa game, az it stands!  (25% capacity) and the dreaded 'home fans only' signs will be put up!  (The NUFC mad-sad groundhoppers live in hope!🙏)

And then tomorrow the Premyaa Leegue fixs come oot at '9:00am bells' and all Toon 👀eyes will be on the away date for Brentfaad, hopin that it will be late in the season, when we will definitely be able to gan! (providin' there are nee more 'variants'?)

The Geordie Times will of course publish the fixtures az soon az they come oot and news of any fixture changes in pre season----Az per usual "Watch this space!"

A CATCH 21-22 SEASON, SITUATION***IT'S THERE IN BLACK N WHITE!

 Posted 'high noon🔔bells' Thorsday 3rd Joon 2021

Updated 'high noon 🔔bells' Sunday 13th Joon

Grimsby Toon have been relegated from the Futbaall League last month and Notts Coonty failed to win promotion from the Conference via the play offs yesterday, when they lost 4-2 at Torquay.
This meeenz that history will be made, az this will be the forst time since NUFC joined the Futbaall Leegue in the 1893-1894 season that we will be the ANLY team oot of the 92 Leegue teams to wear the famous black n white stripes in the 2021-22 season!

We awaited with baited breath az we watched on from Rosie's Bar, to see if Notts Coonty could claim their place back in the '92club', (which they lost in the 2018-19 season)

Notts Coonty were founder members in 1888 and 1st played in black n white stripes in 1890. Grimsby joined in 1892 in the newly formed 2nd Division, but didn't play in black n white stripes til 1910 (AYE! we have done wor homework!)

PS: When the final 92 are conformed 'The Geordie Times' will dee a list into aall the club colours. Not suprizingly red shirts and blue shirts are the most popular colours to play in!

(Even 'The Dibble' were clappin'!)
"NEE 'SOCIAL DISTANCIN' IN THOSE DAYS!"

The Fairs Cup celebrations continued from the previous day (see below) when we paraded the coverted silverware aroond St James' Park.

One home made banner made oot of a tatty bed sheet and hand written in black paint summed it up: "IT'S WOR CUP!", the banner proclaimed!

Aa was somewhere in the Centre Paddock that day and it was a very special day for me for it was aalso mee 15th borthday!

It is STILL to this day the best borthday 'present' that a'v ever had!

FAIRS CUP WINNERS!---52nd ANNIVORSARY!---TODAY!

Posted 'high noon bells' Friday 11th Joon 2021

On this day 52 ago 'The Toon' won the old Inter Cities Fairs Cup in the Hungarian capital of Budapest by beatin' Ujpest Dozsa 3-2 on the day and 6-2 on aggregate, after wor
3-0 forst leg win a fortneet orlier .

I was still a schoolkid at the time and me and mee mate 'Billy the Skin' listened to the final on a crackly old valve radio in his bedroom of his muthaaz hoose as the game wasn't televised live.

It didn't look 'ower clever' by half time as we were two-nowt doon, but as the 2nd half started, Bobby Moncur vollied in to pull one back and Ujpest just collapsed after that.

Benny Arentoft got wor equaliser soon after  and then Alan Foggon got the winner from a rebounded shot off himsel? as the radio commentator screamed his heed off:"IT'S A GOAL!--IT'S A GOAL!", he shouted at the top of his voice, above the 'crattles' of the radio, and it was 'game ower' as the ref blew the final whistle soon after!

The bedroom floor nearly collapsed as we jumped up and doon on the creakin' floorboards in jubulation, as, (just like the radio commentator) WE shouted at the top of WOR VOICES as well!

We celebrated wor win by runnin' doon nearby Whickham Highway wavin' an NUFC flag and a huge 'Rangers' 'William of Orange banner' depictin' a gadgie wearin' a funny lookin' hat, ridin' a white horse, (would you believe!) which Billy had 'half inched' as a souviner from the policehut at 'The Leazes End', after we'd played and beaten Rangers in the Fairs Cup semi final @ St James Park in May!
(At the time we didn't have a clue aboot the 'significance ' of the sectarian nature of the banner---we were just schoolkids after aall!)

Some very puzzled motorists on the road nearly crashed their cars when they seen us!, but they 'didn't have a clue eetha' just wot we were dein', as we sang and danced and waved the huge banner! (which we could hardly lift as it was so heavy!)
"AAAHHH! BRILLIANT MEMORIES!"
