"I'D  WALK  A  MILLI🙂N  MILEYS  F😊R  😉NE  😀F         Y😄UR  SMILEYS!"

125 years after NUFCs last visit to Loughborough in 1898, where wor forst team won 1-0, we paid WOR 1st ever visit to see wor U21s in action and won again, 4-1 this time!

Derby U21s play some of their home games at Loughborough University's Stadium 21 miles from Derby and az this woz yet another new groond for the Toonhoppers, we made the 170 mile pilgrimage to deepest Leicestershire to tick this one off!

This iz the home of Loughborough University FC, who play in 'The United Counties Leegue Premyaa Division North' (Step 5 in the pyramid system) They have an excellent main stand with a great view and smaall terracin' on the other 3 sides of the groond, which holds 3,500 in total.

The story of the game woz the Miley brothers, Lewis and Jamie, who scored 2 of the goals and assisted in 2 ('yours truly' actually went to infant school with their grandad, 'many moons' ago!)

The forst goal in the 30th minute woz scored by Jamie Miley who woz put through by hiz brother Lewis!

Then just before the break Harrison Ashley woz fouled in the box and Diallo converted the resulting spot kick to put us 2-0 up!

7 minutes after the restart Diallo crossed for Lewis Miley to volley home to make it 3-0 to The Toon!

Then calamity struck when wor goalie Max Thompson woz sent off for 'last man' challenge on Wheeldon on the edge of the box!

Hiz replacement Will Brown woz then shown a yellow card for a foul in the box, which resulted in a penalty to the home side. Brown saved the spot kick to keep wor 3 goal advantage!

Jamie Miley then played in Ndiwedi in the 64th minute to put us 4 goals to the good, with a great shot!

Derby pulled one back through Robinson in the 72nd minute  but it woz tooo little too late and we ran oot 4-1 winners!

That's TEN GOALS in 2 days for NUFC sides, after wor 1st team's 6-1 rout of Sporz the day before!---Long may it continue!

One drinkin den woz added to the away pub crawl list! Runnin total now 133!

View of the pitch from the excellent Robert Allison Suite (Whoever he iz???)

Flashback to 1898

Loughborough University groond iz on the left of the map and the *star shows where the game took place in 1898 aboot a mile away!

"DONNY DIMPLE AND HIZ GARDEN GNOME!"

"I THINK WE ARE AT THE WRONG GAME!?"

*Very strangely, there woz a Doncaster Rovers fan at the match, wearin hiz red and white hooped shirt---and even more strangely, (beleeeve it or not!) he woz carryin' a Doncaster Rovers garden gnome?????

"THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE GNOME!"
(GEORDIE TIMES 'PAPARAZZI' PICTURE EXCLUUUSIVE!)

Footnote: The official gate woz later given az 128 (looked a lot more to me?)
And the sending off happened after the 2nd goal, not the 3rd! (Glennn from Ashington haz pointed oot my dilibrit misstayks!)

AND 125 YEARS LATER!

Posted '6:00pm bells' Munday 24th April 2023 (From Loughborough)

THE LAST TIME NUFC WERE HERE!

"IT'S AALL GO FOR THE NUFC MAD-SAD GROUNDHOPPERS!"

It's been 125 years since NUFC last played in Loughborough, when we won a 2nd Division game 1-0 against Loughborough Toon in front of 1,200 fans in 1898!   Campbell scored the anly goal(remember him?) to win the game!

And here we are in 2023 where wor U21s are playin Derby Cooonty U21s at Loughborough University Stsdium at 7:00bells this evenin'! (A 125 year gap must be some kind of record!?🤔)

Aa did some research, hopin that the University groond woz on the same site az The Athletic groond where Loughborough played, so aa could say that aa had been to a former Futbaall Leegue groond where we had played!

Sadly this wozzint the case, az the map shows *(Athletic groond shown where the white star iz-- aboot a mile from the University groond on the left!)😭

A full Geordie Times match report on this game will appear here sometime tomorrow!  Az per usual  "Watch this space!"

THE TOON 6 SPORZ 1 *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2022-2023

Posted 'high noon bells' Munday 24th April 2023

"THE SAINT GEORGE'S DAY MASSACRE!"

"Where the hell do we start with this one?"

RIGHT!----lets start in the 1st minute!: Joelinton races into the box at The Leazes End and hiz low shot iz parried away by Lloris in the Sporz goal into the path of Jacob Murphy, who fired the baall into the net! 1-0 to NUFC

5th minute: Joelinton beats the offside trap and rounds Lloris to double wor lead! 2-0 to NUFC

9th minute: Jacob Murphy scores hiz 2nd goal with a screamer from ootside the box! 3-0 to NUFC

19th minute: A Joe Willock pass finds Alexander the Great (Isak) and he slots the baall into the net! 4-0 to NUFC

21st minute: Isak doubles hiz goal tally in 2 minutes, az he cooly places the baall into the net from a very tight angle! 5-0 to NUFC! (FIVE!)

A this point aa thought aa woz dreamin' az this surely couldn't be real!----Some Sporz fans had had enough by this point and started to leave the groond!!!!

49th minute: Slack defendin lets Harry Kane in and he places the baall past The Pope in The Toon goal: 5-1 to NUFC

67th minute: Super sub Callum Wilson poaches the box at The Gallowgate End and scores after bein on the pitch for just 65 seconds! 6-1  to NUFC!

It could have been many more az we celebrated wildly!---Honest, aa thought that Sporz would be very hard to beat and visualized a draw!

How wrang woz I az we increased the gap between us and them to 6 points with a far superior goal difference now, of course! (Which iz worth an extra point in itself!)

Sporz were wearin an aall light blue strip and ---"YES!"---they definatleee had 'the blues'!

NUFC move back above Moan U into 3rd place in the Premyaa Leegue table!----Champions Leegue futbaall and trips to Madrid, Milan and Munich are now very much on the cards! My 'dream' iz now nearly reality!

Attendance: 52,252 (3,200 Sporz fans at the start--Less than 1,000 at the end!)⤵️

CARLTON TOON 2 DUNSTON BAD BLUE BOYS 0 *** NORTHERN PREMYAA LEEGUE EAST DIVISION

Posted 'high noon bells' Saint George's Day 23rd April 2023

*THERE'S ANLY ONE MAN TO BLAME FOR THE 1974 PITCH INVASION AT SJP!" (Read on!)

Dunston's langest trip of the season woz aalso their last Leegue game and a win and othaa results gannin their way would meen that they would quialify for the play offs for a place In The Northern Premyaa Leegue 1st Divison!

We travelled doon on the packed team bus, which took 3 hours to get to Carlton in deepest Nottinghamshire!

A mad dash to the clubhoose then ensued az we arrived for several 'liquid lubrications' before the '3 bells' start!

There woz an unexpected talk in with an ex Nottingham Forest player who played under Brian Clough in the 1970s caalled George Lyall!

To be honest a'd never hord of him and az he recounted the days under 'Cloughie', aa looked him up on nufc.com to see if he'd ever played against NUFC?

He HAD---and not anly that, he scored the penalty at SJP in the infamous 4-3 FA Cup victory for us in 1974, to put Forest 3-1 up, to cause the pitch invasion from The Leazes End, just after hiz penalty! (ie: HE  woz responsible for the pitch invasion!) The players were taken off and Forest agreed to play on az they were 3-1 aheed!----However The Toon scored 3 times and won 4-3!---Forest demanded a replay and got it!

George Lyall- the man who caused the pitch invasion riot in 1974!

After the talk in, he sat at a table near me and I told him that I woz at that game, which subsequently had to be replayed at Evatin (twice!) and eventually we reached the final at Wembley that year!

A Dunston fan caalled Sue said that hor hubby Les had played for Preston when George Lyall woz there!----He remembered him, to the delight of Sue! (Yi couldnt possibly make aall this up---could yih??)

ANYWAY!---to the match!   A disastrous own goal not lang after the start when a Dunston defender cleared off the line, only for it to rebound off Terry Galbraith to put Carlton 1-0 up and Dunston just couldnt get gannin in probably their worst performance of the season!

A 2nd goal near the end through Watson, put paid to The Bad Blue Boys hopes of a play off place (who played in aall red!), but it didnt really matter az other results had went against them and even if they had won 6-0 they still wouldnt have made the play offs! (Boosting Carlton's hopes of avoiding the relegation play offs!)

Never mind there's aalways next season!

"Bloody hell!"--Have yoo seen the size of the rats in Carlton!!!"

Footnote: A REPORT ON NUFCs MASSIVE GAME v SPORZ WILL BE FORTCOMIN' LATER ON!

MAGIC WEEKEND?---LETS HOPE SO!

Posted 'high noon 'bells' Friday 21st April 2023

There are 2 massive games comin' up for Tyneside teams this weekend!

Forstly, on Saturday afternoooon, 'The Bad Blue Boys' of Dunston are away to Carlton Toon in The Northern Premyaa Leegue East Division! (Carlton iz just off the A1 near Newark in deepest Nottinghamshire!

A win for Dunston and defeat or draw for Long Eaton, will mean that they will qualify for the play offs and a chance to win promotion to The Northern Premyaa Leegue 1st Division! (The 7th tier of Inglish futbaall)

In the pyramid system The Northern Premyaa League 1st Division iz 'Step 3', with 'Step 2' The National Leegue North and 'Step 1' The National Leegue!----And then of course, Leegue 3, League 2, The Championship and the daddy of them aall The Premyaa Leegue!

'Yours Truly' iz on the Dunston team bus to Carlton, which will be mee 70th groond watchin 'The Bad Blue Boys'! (Not bad for a part time supporter who's priority iz of course NUFC games!)

And then of course on Sunday at '2:00 bells' NUFC play Sporz in The Premyaa Leegue at SJP in a 6 pointer, for the chance to qualify for The Champions Leegue next season!---This game iz MASSIVE!---A win for us will take us 6 points clear of Sporz in 5th position, a draw will keep the gap at 3 points and a disastrous defeat (God forbid!) will see Sporz on level points with us! (But with a worse goal difference)

A Geordie Times match report on both games will appear here sometime on Munday-----Where we are off on wor travels again to watch wor U21s play Derby U21s at Loughborough University Stadium at '7:00bells'!----Its aall 'go' for 'The mad-sad Groundhopper'!

THE 'REAL' DEAL PART 2!

 Posted '1:00pm bells' Wedinzday 19th April 2023

HALF A SHEEP'S BRAIN! "BAA! BAAA!"

SCENARIOS LESS COMPLICATED NOW!

Chelseeez 2-0 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid last neet in the qwaataa finals of The Champions Leegue, meeenz that they are nee langer a threat to WOR Champions Leegue qualification, az they sit in 11th place in The Premyaa Leegue table, with nee chance of catchin us!

They are in a doonward spiral and its aall one mans fault!

🢃🢃🢃

(Had Russia not invaded Ukraine, then Chelseee would still be owned by that Russian billionaire and not a Yank, who hazzent got a clue aboot the beautiful game!)

Simply put---If NUFC finish in the top 4 we will qualify--"er!"--provided Moan U divvint finish 5th and win the Europa Leegue!

If that happens then we will be in The Europa Leegue instead!

A 3rd top finish guarantee's a Champions Leegue spot!

If Moan U finish in the top 4 and win The Europa Leegue, NUFC WILL qualify with a 4th place finish!

THE 'REAL' DEAL!

 Posted '12:57pm bells' Tuezday 18th April 2023

Tooneet The Chelseee Pensioners take of Real Madrid in the 2nd leg of their Champions Leegue qwaataa final at Stamford Bridge!

Why are we mentionin' this?----Whey!, if Chelseee somehow owercome their 2-0 fost leg defeat in Spain, then they will be in the semis!

If somehow they manage to win The Champions Leegue then they will automatically take one of the Champions places, despite bein in 11th place az we speak, meanin that if NUFC finish 4th in the Premyaa Leegue table, we will miss oot and drop doon to The Europa Leegue!

A forthaa complication iz that if Moan U win the Europa Leegue, then THEY will automatically qualify for the Champions Leegue az well, even if they finish ootside of the top 4!

A maximum of 5 Premyaa Leegue clubs are allowed in next seasons Champions Leegue IF both Chelsea and Moan U win their respective European leegues, meenin that 3rd place iz guaranteed no matter wot!  (I hope yoo are followin' aall this and takin it in???)

So lets aall 'root' for Real Madrid toooneet at '8:00bells', wethaa your watchin on the telly or listenin on your radio!  (Truck radio for me!)

THE COMPLICATED SCENARIOS!

Moan U win Europa Leegue and finish 5th---NUFC need to finish 3rd to qualify (4 teams qualify)

Chelsea win Champions Leegue---NUFC need to finish 3rd to qualify (4 teams qualify)

Both Moan U and Chelsea win----NUFC need to finish 3rd to qualify (5 teams qualify)

Chelsea lose and Moan U lose---NUFC need to finish 4th to qualify

(4 teams qualify)

Moan U finish 3rd or 4th and win or lose----NUFC need to finish in top 4

(4 teams qualify)

THE HAZBEEENZ AND VILLIANS 3 THE TOON 0 *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2022-2023

Posted 'high noon bells' Sunday 16th April 2023

*THE VILLA PARK JINX STRIKES AGAIN!"

We aalways knew this would be a tough game and personally aa thought that the game would probably end up aall square, but little did aa realise that Villa would play oot of their skin and that we would have 'a bad day at the office'!

The warnin bells were ringin after just one minute when the home side hit the post at The Holte End of the groond!

10 minutes later and it woz 1-0 to them az the attacked wor goal, their goal comin through Ramsey, who hit a shot across the goal and into wor net!

They then hit the bar az we struggled to get into the game and they had several chances to increase their lead in the forst period!---NUFC were very lucky to gan in just 1-0 doon at the break!

Villa Park of course iz a very unlucky groond for the The Toon az we have been relegated TWICE here in recent times! (2009 and 2016!)

The Villians went straight for the jugular again in the 2nd half and a disallowed goal by Watkins in the 62nd minute for offside failed to stem the tide and an aaful mix up in the box a few minutes later had Villa 2-0 aheed through Watkins again (who woz onside appartently this time?) and the game at this point woz lost, az we hardly got oot of forst gear!

A thord goal near the end through Watkins again, compounded wor misery az the Villa Park jinx struck again!---NUFC havvint even scored a goal here for nearly TEN years! (Gouffran in September 2013!!!)(Wor goal in wor 1-1 draw in 2016-2017 woz an own goal!)

This woz wor heaviest defeat of the season and without doubt wor worst performance!

The great news on the train back woz that Sporz had unexpectedly lost 3-2 at home to Bournemoooth to keep the gap from them to 3 points and we have a game in hand!

We just happen to be playin' them next Sunday at SJP and this game haz now took on massive proportions!  Win it and we gan 6 points clear of them with a much superior goal difference (Sporz will anly have 6 games left after this, while NUFC will have 7)

A draw will keep the gap at 3 points and a disastrous defeat will mean that Sporz are level on points with us!

So this iz a "must win, must win game!"---in wor quest for Champions Leegue qualification!

Attendance: 42,055 (3,000 downbeat Toon fans in the Doug Ellis Stand)

PS: An adult ticket for the away end woz £30, while a concessions ticket for 'zimmerframeites' and 'sprogs' woz!----wait for it!--£29.50!(Very generous of them to knock 50p off, wasn't it???)

A Toon fans with a '12:30 bells' kick off protest banner!             ie: We divvint like orly kick offs az the scoreboard shows! 🥶

PUB CRAWL PHOTOS 5 new away boozers visited--Runnin total for season now 132 different drinkin dens!

THE HAZBEEENZ AND VILLIANS V THE TOON *** TOMORROW DINNAATIME!

Posted from '6:00pm bells' onwards on the train to Bormingham, Friday 14th April 2023

At '12:30 bells' tomorrow dinnaatime we face one of wor toughest tests of the season, when we take on 'The Hazbeeenz and Villians' at Villa Park in downtown Bormingham.

While NUFC are on a run of 5 straight victories, Villa have won 4 in a row, so sommik must give!

Villa Park iz NOT a happy huntin' groond az far az we are concerned, indeed its the place of nightmares, az we have been relegated there TWICE!, in 2009 and 2015! (Villa were aalso relegated in 2015)

In 2009 they made banners with "Sob on the Tyne" and "Who's your next messiah?, Ant or Dec" and hung them from The Holte End balcony waall!

This iz sommik that we won't EVER forget and needless to say, we divvint like them at aall, because of that!

Miggy Almiron iz set to retorn but Saint Max will miss oot coz of a slight hamstring injury!   Not suprizingly aall 3,000 away tickets were snapped up lang ago, so it shud be a crackin hostile atmosphere, come '12:30 bells' on Saturday!

A brief match and booze report of sorts will be done on mee mobile telling bone on the train back tomorrow teatime!---So expect plenty of misstayks az the train jolts alang the tracks!

Az per usual "Watch this space!"

*We lost 3-0 and az the train iz heavin I won't have a chance to dee a match report today!

This will now follow at 'high noon bells' tomorrow for the horror report!🥶

ST. JAMES' PARK CHOSEN OWER STADIUM OF "YEE NAA WOT" FOR EURO 2028!

 Posted '6:00pm bells' Thorzday 13th April 2023

Some great news reaches us that SJP haz been chosen az the north east's choice for the Euro 2028 bid!---The mackems had put in a rival bid, but we were aalways gannin to be the winners!

10 points to say SJP and its city centre location iz better than the SOS

1: Direct Inter City trains to Central Station from north, south and west!

2: A1 major truck road runs through the Toon (Western Bypass)

3: Toon International Airport just 20 minutes away from SJP via road and Metro links

4: 4 times az many hotels within easy reach of SJP

5: Party City with 108 pubs within walkin distance of SJP

6: Many more quality restaurants near SJP (Nee cheesy chip shops!)

7: Superior catering and more executive boxes at SJP

8: Bigger groond capacity

9: MAGnificent architecture (Nee pigeon duckets, like near the SOS)

10: Stunning quayside Tyne bridge-scape, az seen on 'The Geordie Times' 9 seater 'canny tranny'!

Bids that failed!  The Theatre of Muppets (Old Trafford), London Stadium West Ham, Croke Park Dublin and of course The Stadium of "Yee Naa Wot!"💩

Needless to say that the SMBs are not happy bunnies!😅
