“GREEN FOR GO!”
A very rare event. A new Premyaa Leegue groond for ‘The NUFC mad-sad groundhoppers’— The last one woz at Brentfaad’s new abode nearly 4 years ago!
This woz aalso NUFCs 61st groond visited for a Premyaa Leegue game!
Playin in wor ‘jinxed’ green change strip, we feared the worst az we had yet to win a game this season wearin it!
But we shouldn’t have worried az we were 1-0 up after 55 seconds when a Lewis Miley corner at far end from us was heeded into the net by Malik Thiaw to score the fastest Premyaa Leegue goal of the season!
Evaatin’s brand new stadium woz packed to the rafters and it woz more impressive from the ootside than in!
It really iz much better than Goodison Park and iz one of the very best in the top flight now!
NUFC were well on top and 24 minutes after the forst goal it woz 2-0 to us when, after a ping pong bounce off several players, the baall fell nicely to Lewis Miley on the edge of the box and he hit a sweet left footed shot which went through the legs of Pickford and into the net! π€ͺπ⬇️
Nick Waltemade made it 3-0 bang on half time, when he expertly chipped the baall ower the mackem we love to hate(Pickford) from an Elanga pass! This sent the 3,001 Toon fans into meltdoon !⬇️ππ HT 3-0 to us!
Many of the Evertonians had departed az the 2nd half began and even more left az wor 4th goal went in, in the 58th minute, when a Lewis Hall pinpoint cross foond the heed of Thiaw, who once again, rose above the Evaatin defence to heed home in front of the Toon contingent behind that goal!
A mass exodus of Toffee Noses then followed and we now had a great view of the empty blue seats which appeared aall ower the home sections!
The home side then had a goal disallowed, before pulling a consolation goal back in the 69th minute through Dewsbury-Hall with a turnin shot past Ramsdale, who had replaced The Pope in goal!
More chances went abeggin az we missed several more chances to make it 5-1!
By the time the match reached the 90 minute mark (5 minutes stoppage time added) at least 35,000 Toffee Noses had departed, oot of the 52,000 plus crowd! (Absolutely NONE from the 3,001 in the visitors section I may add!) ⬇️
The green strip jinx had well and truly been banished to the trash bin!π️
Az an added bonus we travelled back via Carlisle and caught this steam train back to The Toon from there! π
