EVEN THE 'LINO' TAKES SHELTER FROM THE STORM
BEHIND THE CORNER FLAG!
"SHELTER FROM THE STORM!"
Az the Toon wornt playin' til Munday neet (away to Wolves) we got wor 'Saturday fix' at a Northern Leegue encoontaa instead!
It woz top v bottom at Federation Park (aka UTS Stadium) where Dunston were gannin for promotion, while Penrith were fightin against relegation!
The outcome at a very windy and stormy groond woz predictable with the home side winnin 4-1 with a penalty miss az well!
The strong wind woz a great leveller and The Sheep Sh*****s were more than 'up for it' az they attacked 'The Tea Hut End' in the forst half!
The breakthrough however came from The Bad Blue Boys, who took the lead at The Dunston Rocket-less End. (there used to be a tower block at this end, nicknamed 'The Rocket' by the locals, az it had the shape of a space rocket---now demolished!) when Halliday sent in a curlin shot in the 18th minute!
It woz soon 2-0 when Brooks doubled Dunston's lead with a fierce shot in the 22nd minute!
|FITZPATRICK PENALTY FOR A 3-0 LEAD FOR THE BAD BLUE BOYS!|
A penalty woz then awarded to the home side when Fitzpatrick woz brought doon in the box--and up he stepped to take it for a 3-0 lead, putting hiz shot into the top of the net!
Penrith pulled one back after sloppy defendin' bang on half time to give them a bit of hope for the 2nd half!
Az the ref blew for half time we rushed to the clubhoose to take shelter from the storm and of course for the customary half time 'liquid refeshments'! (Broon ale for me!)
Dunston forthaa increased their lead just after the restart---which we missed az we were still in 'liquid refreshment mode'!-- when Fitzpatrick sealed the game with a fine effort! (so we were told!)
A missed penalty from Fitzpatrick then followed, but it mattered not!---az The Bad Blue Boys held on to their 4-1 lead to claim the points!
Top of the leegue and heedin for promotion to 'The Evo Stick Leegue', which iz 'level 7' of the futbaall pyramid, while Penrith look certain to be relegated to division 2 of The Northern Leegue!
