"WOKING WOE!"
News reaches us from the Readin' website that wor Premier Leegue Cup tie v Readin' U23s will take place a week tomorrow on Friday 15th March at KINGFIELD STADIUM, WOKING, Surrey at '1:00pm bells!
A groond we have never been tee before!
"YAAHOOO!"😀
The logistics of gettin' there will prove a headache though, az we play Bounemoooth away in The Premyaa Leegue the day after.
The sensible thing to do iz stay the night in Woking and travel to Bournemoooth the next day, az it isn't far away!
HOWEVER! I am NOT a sensible person!---az I MUST travel back yem after the Woking game, az I have a train ticket where 2 people must travel together to Bournemoooth and aa will drop mee mate 'Big Al' 'in it' if aa don't travel doon with him!
Az the train fares are horrendous that Friday (£120 plus at least!) I will probably drive to Woking and back (roond trip 600 miles), gan to bed for a few hours---"ZZZZzzzz!" and heed for 'The Central' on the Saturday mornin' to catch the orly '5:26 bells' train to London and then onward to Bournemoooth---wor langest trip of the season at 700 miles for the roond trip!---That's 1,300 miles in total for the 2 games!
Footnote: I have foond a cheaper price for a retorn train jorney to London which iz £83 on the Friday---and then onward to Woking and back via tube and anothaa train! (£25?)---So train it iz!
Remember! Yoo read aboot wor trip to Woking forst in 'The Geordie Times'--- and nee where else!😨
This website iz dedecated to the Newcastle United groundhoppers who follow the fortunes of the team aroond the world (and beyond!) The ground totals include competitive and friendly forst team, resorve team, junior team and Newcastle United X1 games that 'the mad-sad groundhopper' has attended, aall for Newcastle United games only, in the last SEVEN decades*** cheers!***'Fink' (the mad-sad groundhopper!)***last count 379 (380 inc Motspur Park outside)

MORPETH HIGHWAYMEN 2 THE TOON U23s 0 *** NORTHUMBERLAND SENIOR CUP SEMI FINAL
Posted '2:03pm bells' Wedinzday 6th March 2019
"HIGHWAY ROBBERY!"
Wor U23s lost 2-0 against 10 men Morpeth in the Northumberland Senior Cup last neet at Craik Park in front of a 1,456 crowd!
We simply didn't get 'oot the blocks' and the home keeper had hardly out to dee in the entire match!
The Morpeth goals were scored by Henderson and Walton (pen)
Then the home side had Taylor sent off for a bad tackle on Matty Longstaff (the bruvva of 'Saun') but we couldn't make the numerical advantage pay!
The Highwaymenz' reward iz a place in the final against North Sheeeldz at SJP on a date to be conformed!

NUFC MAD-SAD GROUNDHOPPERS NEWS! **** POSSIBLE NEW GROOND!
Posted '2:05pm bells' Tuesday 5th March 2019
Wor U23s 'reward'? for getting to the knockout stages of the Premier Leegue Cup iz an away tie at Reading U23s!
Wor U23s played Reading last month in a leegue game which woz played at Wycome Wanderers FC! (a groond we have been tee before!)
HOWEVER!--in Leegue Cup games Reading have been usin' Woking FCs groond in Surrey (where we have never been!) and we have nee idea just where it will be played!?
It could aalso be played at their main Madjeski Stadium groond!? (where of course, we have been az well!)
To put a 'spanner in the works' the game will be played between Thorsday 14th March (before wor away game at Bournemoooth on Saturday 16th March) and Sunday 17th March the day after the Bournemoooth game!
It could aalso be played on the same day az we play Bournemoooth!
The best case scenario iz for the game to be played on the Thorsday or Friday at Woking before the Bournemoooth game---or at their main stadium or Wycombe, meenin' we can 'miss it' az we have been there before!
--And the worst case scenario iz for it to be played on the Saturday or Sunday at Woking's groond, az we will be forced to miss it because of the Bournemoooth 1st team game on Saturday! and because we travel back from Bournemoooth on Sunday mornin', so any game at Woking those days will be a non starter, az we need to get back on the Sunday!
We of course will let yoo know just when and where we will play the game az soon az we find oot!

News that NUFC are (allegedly!) to play in a pre season tournament in Shanghai in China haz reached 'The Geordie Times'!
It's caalled 'The Asian Premier League Trophy' and othaa teams involved will be Man City, Wolves and West Ham and the games are due to take place in July.
It comes az a surprize, az 'Rafa the Gaffa' iz known not to be in favour of long-haul pre season trips! (ie: Will he still be here then?)
There iz NEE confirmation of this from NUFC (yet!?) and we await any forthaa news when we get it!
Az per usual watch this space for forthaa developments!

THE JELLIED EELS MOB 2 THE TOON 0 ***PREMYAA LEEGUE 2018-2019
Posted from '9:45am bells' onwards on train from King's Cross to the Toon!😨
"HISTORY IZ MADE IN CAMDEN TOON! --AZ THE TOON GAN DOON!"
Wot can we say?--after great wins v 'uddersfeeeld and Bornley we were brought back doon to orth with a horrible display in "eest Landan" against The Jellied Eels Mob of West Ham!😨
We simply didnt get "oot the blocks" az the same team to take the field on Tuesday (v Bornley) started this game az well!
The home side took the lead in the 7th minute when Rice woz given a free header inside the 6 yard box!
West Ham pressed for a second goal and it came just before the break when they were awarded a dodgy lookin penalty, which Noble convorted!
Reely, we were hardly 'in it', with ventures into their box a rareity, with anly a few off target shots!
Saun Longstaff woz taken off at half time and woz later seen limpin, with a pair of crutches! (NOT a good sign!)😨---to be replaced by Mo Diame wearin' an eye plaster after bein' injured durin' the Bornley game!(By a Peter Crouch elbow!)
The 2nd period wasnt much better for NUFC az we attacked the goal where wor fans were behind!
Apart from a Rondon free kick near the end which woz tipped onto the post by Fabianski in the home goal, it wasnt to be wor day az we went doon to a 2-0 defeat!
The stats show that NUFC had 17 shots, many of them 'powder puff' and off target az mentioned above!
"EVEN THE BLIND CAN SEE!"
Quite a few Toon fans streamed away before the end, includin a Toon fan with a white stick!
Even the blind could see we wornt very good!😎
Luckily for us most of the teams aroond us lost az we stay 6 points above the dreaded drop zone, doon one place to 14th in the table with 9 games left! (4 home, 5 away)
To drown wor sorrows we heeded for Camden Town near King's Cross for the post match 'liquid lubrications'---and history woz made by 'The Geordie Times' az we visited wor HUNDRETH away pub of the season!!!
The Oxford Arms woz the place--- az we downed wor 'celebratory'? pints of 'Doom Bar'! <(because of the result!)
Toon team: Dubravka, Schar (Dummett 64), Lascelles, Lejuene, Manquillo, Perez, Hayden (Atsu 78),
Longstaff (Diame 46), Ritchie, Almiron, Rondon

"IT WOZ 50 YEARS AGO TODAY---THAT AA WENT TO SEE NEW-CAS-IL PLAY!"
Posted '2:00pm bells' 1st March 2019
50 years ago today aa went to West Ham to watch NUFC in an old 1st Division game at The Boleyn Groond, more commonly known az Upton Park, and by coincidence we are playin them at their new stadium tomorrow afternoon!
'The Boleyn' woz of course demolished 2 years ago to make way for a hoosin estate, while 'The Jellied Eels Mob' moved to the Olympic Stadium 4 miles away and renamed it 'London Stadium'
An archive match report from aall those years ago iz printed below alang with one from wor forst visit to their 'new abode' just ower a year ago!
"AND 'BACK TO THE FUTURE'!"
Meeenwhile, tomorrow, we heed for eest Landan in a more confident mood after 2 home wins in 3 days to propel us up to 13th in the table! (wor joint highest of the season!)
Of course we are still not safe from relegation, with one of the three places still to be filled (we 'fink' that 'uddersfeeeld and Fulim are aalready doomed!)
We are six points from 'the drop zone', but when we were in 'the smoke' (London) in January, we were in the bottom 3 after wor narrow 2-1 defeat at Chelski!
Lets hope we can get sommik tomorrow! (we won 3-2 there last season!) Aall 2,900 away tickets available were snapped up lang ago!
A Geordie Times match report will appear here on Sunday mornin', az a'm travellin' back on the train then. (A'm dein' it on mee mobile!)
(The kick off time of '5:30 bells' for live telly, makes it virtually impossible to make the last train back on Saturday neet!)

“IT’S LIKE AN OLYMPIC SPORT!”
The day started off az per usual at ‘The Central’ (station)
where we caught the 5 to 8 bells train to King’s Cross (London) and we arrived
at ’11:00am bells’
It woz then ‘onward’ to Hackney Wick on the number 30 bus az
we were told that this woz a good place to gan and that it wasn’t tooo far from
The Olympic Stadium where the 2012 Olympic games took place! (Now renamed ‘London
Stadium’ by those porn toy sellers who own the club!)
It took the bus 40 minutes to get to Hackney and then a 10 minute walk to the bar which woz in a semi
derelict state in an industrial estate with graffiti sprayed aall ower the
place! (see photos)
The bar we went to woz caalled ‘The Tank Bar’ which iz one
of them new ‘micro-brewery bars’ that are startin’ to spring up aall ower the
place. Built in a derelict warehoose it woz ‘rough and ready’ with paint peelin’
off the waalls and there woz even a fork lift truck parked in the alley on the
way to the ‘tool-shed’!
![]() |
| "SPOT THE FORKLIFT TRUCK!" |
It woz fairly empty when we went in, but started to fill up with
West Ham fans az kick off time got nearer!
We decided to stay there for ‘the duration’ az it woz faily
eezy to get sorved and 4 pint pitchers were preferred at £17 a shot—which worked oot at £4.25 a
pint, which iz cheep by London standards!
![]() |
"HONEST PET!---AA WOZ ANLY DRINKIN' HALFS!"
(Half GALLONS! that iz!)
|
"LONDON (Stadium) CALLING!"
We left the boozer at '2:20 bells' az we didn’t naa just how far
the groond woz and were amazed to find that we could see it in the distance az
we left the bar, rounded a corner and waalked ower a bridge which spanned a canal! (the reason we
were amazed woz because the bar wasn’t 'heavin' az you’d expect for somewhere
near a 56,000 capacity stadium!)
![]() |
| PICTURE OF LONDON STADIUM FROM JUST OOTSIDE THE BAR! |
10 minutes aftaa leavin’ the bar and we were at the stadium which looked smaller than we thought it would be for a 80,000 seater Olympic stadium (56,000 for futbaall when its convorted)
"AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!"
We were situated in the 2nd level and aftaa climbin’ some stairs we entered the away terrace to find that we were miles from the pitch!---and indeed 'miles' from some of wor own fans!, who were at the front in level 1 (again see photos of ‘the gap’ between fans and pitch!)
Honestleeee! This iz a brilliant stadium!---for ATHLETICS
and hoyin JAVELINS!---but definatly NOT for FUTBAALL---and the owners decision to
sell their old Boleyn ground in Upton Park 4 miles away in their ‘heartland’
and move here iz scandalous!
At ‘The Boleyn’ fans were breathin doon the players necks
when they took corners and throw ins az the pitch woz within touchin distance
of the terraces--- and now yoo would need a jumbo jet engine to de the same thing
at London Stadium!—such iz the distance between the touchlines and the pitch!
The dugoots were SO far from the touchline that it would have been easier to jump on a golf buggy to get to the edge of the technical area!

RAFA ON THE TOUCHLINE (in black) BELLOWS INSTRUCTIONS TO THE TEAM
AFTER WAALKIN (nearly!) HALF A MILE FROM THE AWAY DUGOOT
TO GET THERE! |
Of aall the 330 groonds I have watched NUFC teams (from the
forst team to the juniors), this iz the forthest distance from the pitch I have
ever been!---and that includes The Nou Camp in Barcelona, The Olympic Stadium
in Rome (v AS Roma) and The Stadio Delle Alpi in Turin! (v Juventus)
The late Paul 'Jethro' Tully, the former NUFC programme editor once said
that ‘collectin’ new groonds followin’ 'The Toon' woz like an “OLYMPIC
SPORT!”---very appropriate for an Olympic Stadium!—and Paul woz indeed an ‘NUFC
mad-sad groundhopper’ az well, havin visited well ower 100 groonds himself, following
the Toon in hiz duty’s az programme editor! (RIP PAUL)
“ZERO TO HERO!”
Anyway!--- the game kicked off and disaster struck within 6
minutes when Henri Saivet gave the baall away to Arnautovic <(hope av spelt
that reet?) who ran through wor defence az though it didn’t exist, to plant the
baall past Rob Elliot in the Toon goal!
1-0
to The Jellied Eels Mob!
But then Saivet redeemed himself when he took a free kick at
the far end from us in the 10th minute, which whistled past ‘The Jellied Eels’ goalie Adrian, just inside the near post!---and then there woz some confusion to who had scored, az we were that far away, we couldn’t hardly make the players
oot, az they looked like Subbuteo figures from row 58 of the back tier!
It woz like watchin' a match from ootside the groond from a block of high rise flats! (AND there were anothaa 20 rows behind 'us'!)
So it woz---“Zero to hero’ in the space of 4 minutes for Saivet, when we eventually foond oot who HAD scored!”

So it woz---“Zero to hero’ in the space of 4 minutes for Saivet, when we eventually foond oot who HAD scored!”
1-1
2 woodwork strikes then followed from Gayle and Richie which should have put us forthaa aheed, but ‘lady luck’ deserted us once again (just like against Everton)
Gayle then missed a great chance from 15 yards oot, but blazed hiz effort ower the bar and we went in on level torms at the break, cursin' wor bad luck! (and finishing!)

The 2nd half started off at blisterin’ pace and
within 8 minutes of the restart we went aheed when Diame sidefooted the baall in
from 8 yards oot in front of the 3,000 Toon fans behind that goal!
(az we were kickin’ ‘wor way’ we could now make the goalscorer
oot!)
2-1 to The Toon!
Then a penalty save by Elliot (from a foul which looked outside
the box to us at the far end) woz followed by a 3rd goal from ‘us’
when Atsu put the baall into the far
corner of the net to send the ‘faithful’ ballistic!
3-1 to The ToonIt woz at this point that many West Ham fans heeded for the exits---and there woz still half an hour to gan!?
![]() |
| THE TOON ATTACK THE TREVOR BROOKING STAND GOAL |
But we couldn’t hang on az Andy Carroll came on for 'The Jellied Eels Mob' and hiz downward heeder in the box woz followed through by Ayew to bring the score back to 3-2
We then had a nail bitin and hair pullin last 20 minutes az
they pressed for the equaliser, but we ‘hung on in there’ and won the 3
precious points, which ended wor 2 month winless streak and propelled us up to
15th in the table, just 3 points behind Brighton in 12th
place!
From ‘them’ downwards just 9 points separate the rest!
We heeded back to the boozer we had started from and then 'The Crate' next door, before jumpin back on the number 30 bus back to King’s Cross to
catch the ‘8 bells’ train yem!
Factfile: Oot of the current 92 Leegue teams, this woz NUFC’s
81st groond visited and The
Geordie Times haz been to aall 81 az well! (Big Al <(NOT the sheet metal workers son!) and Sarnie Steve have now done
them aall following othaa teams az well and have now joined 'The 92 Club'!)
For the record the 11 groonds that NUFC have nevaa played on
are aall in the bottom 2 divisions:
Bristol Rovers
(been to 2 of their old groonds), Northampton, Barnet (been to their old groond),
Fleetwood, Rochdale, Newport, Wimbledon (been to their old groond), MK Dons,
Forest Green, Shrewsbury (been to
their old groond) and Wycombe (although we HAVE been to WHICKHAM from The Northern Leegue to see a Toon junior game!)
Toon team: Elliot, Yedlin, Clark, Lascelles, Manquillo,
Ritchie, Saivet (Mbemba 84), Diame, Atsu (Murphy 91), Joselu, Gayle (Perez 76)

PREMYAA LEEGUE RULES OK!
Posted '3:30pm bells' Thorsday 28th February 2019
News that Celtic fans are caallin Brendan Rodgers 'a fraud' for leavin' them for Lestaa City, az Celtic have 60,000 fans compared to Lestaa's 30,000
The reality iz that The Premyaa Leegue iz a million times richer than The Scottish Premyaa and even though Lestaa are a medium sized club in a massive pond, Celtic are a massive club in a very small pond!
Its a farce anyway that one club can dominate so much, who are gannin for a 'treble, treble' of Scottish Leegue, Scottish Cup and Scottish Leegue Cups!
When Celtic or Rangers are not in town, clubs like Hamilton, Kilmarnock, St Mirren and Motherwell get 'crowds' of under 4,000
While in Ing-er-land anly Bournemoooth are poorly supported in comparison with average gates of 10,000 (Bournemoooth would be 6th best supported if they were in Scotland!)
Rangers and Celtic get 50,000 plus crowds, while the next best supported club, Hearts average just 16,000-----theres ne competition to The Premyaa Leegue, where Man U, Man City, Arsenal, West Ham, Liverpool, Sporz and NUFC get average gates of 50,000-75,000 and of course the telly money makes aall the difference!
So its ne surprize to us that 'Jolly Rodger' jumped ship for the gravy train south of the border!---the richest leegue in the world!
Iz it any wonder that the clubs near the bottom of the Premyaa Leegue are so desperate to stay 'in it', but of course 3 will be demoted at the end of the season with 'uddersfeeeld and Fulim aalready doomed!
Celtic (and Rangers) would love to be 'in it', but that will never happen in a million years!
The Premyaa Leegue rules OK!----and you'd better beleeeve it!

Yet anothaa 'must win' home game against relegation rivals WOZ won with anothaa excellent display by aall!
Quite simply the arrival of Miguel Almiron and the form of "one of wor own" Saun Longstaff haz completleee changed the mood of the fans from despair to optimism in a matter of weeks!
When we lost away to Chelski on January 12th we were in a relegation place---and now we are in thorteenth position thanx mainly to 4 home wins in a row!
We started off where we left off against 'uddersfeeeld last Saturday and went for 'the jugular' straight away, az we attacked The Leazes goal. After havin most of the possession we took the lead in the 24th minute with a wonder shot from 30 yards oot by Fabian Schar which went in off the post---(some luck at last after hittin the post 4 times v 'uddersfield, where the baall boonced back off the woodwork!)
Local lad Saun Longstaff then got hiz forst Premyaa goal when he got onto the end of a Matt Ritchie cross in the 38th minute to fire home a great shot---and he celebrated wildly, az did 'we' in the stands!
More chances went 'abeggin' but we couldn't add to the scoreline and went in 2-0 up at the break!
Miguel Almiron woz again one of the stars az he raced aboot 'like a whippet' and woz unlucky not to get on the scoresheet in the 2nd half, az we attacked The Gallowgate goal!
Bornley wornt very good and we fully desorved the precious 3 points to put us 7 points above the drop zone with anly 10 games left!---Almiron, Longstaff and Perez aall received standin' ovations when they were aall substituted late on!
Cardiff and Brightin's losses were a bonus and meant that we climbed to within 5 points of West Ham in the top half of the table---and who we play away on Saturday!---who would'iv beleeeved that in January?
On this form anything iz possible!
Toon team: Dubravka, Manquillo, Schar, Lejeune, Lascelles, Ritchie, Hayden, Longstaff (Diame84), Almiron (Dummett 80), Perez (Joselu 87), Rondon
Attendance: 48,323 (Just 1,000 or so 'Hillbillies' in The Leazes upper tier) (one reason why the crowd woz under 50,000)
This woz wor lowest crowd this season!
