On a freezin' caad and windy neet The 'U18's progressed to the 4th roond of the FA Youth Cup by defeatin' Darlo 3-0 @ St James' Park.

The bitin' wind had kept the crowd doon and they were housed mostly in The East Stand with the rest in the directors box opposite, with approximataly 100 Darlo fans hundled together at reet hand side of The East Stand.

The Toon took the lead in the 29th minute when a Brandon Miele corner foond centre back Remie Street's heed and he nodded in past two defenders and the keeper at The Leazes End.

The score remained the same until half time but
wor lead was finally doubled in the 70th minute, when Marcus Maddison fired home at The Gallowgate End, to aall but 'end' Darlo's chances on pullin' off a shock result.
Marcus then ran the full length of the field to celebrate in front of the Darlo fans who had given him 'stick' for most of the game!  (He'd went doon for a soft challenge in front of them in the forst half and they booed him every time he touched the baall after that!)

The final nail in Darlo's coffin came 5 minutes later when Adam Campbell brilliantly lobbed the Darlo keeper from 20 yards oot, to send us intih the next roond.
A 'PRIZED' (BUT CRUMPLED!) TEAM SHEET---
ANLY 50 WERE PRINTED!?---
(AND THEY WENT LIKE 'HOT CAKES'!)

Footnote:
Attempts by the tannoy annooncer to caall 'St James' Park'  by a different name on at least fower occassions were met with total distain from the smaall crowd!

REMEMBER!--it's "ST JAMES' PARK---AND AALWAYS WILL BE!"

Attendance: 1,136 (100 or so Darlo fans)

THE TOON 0 THE KINGS ROAD O.A.P.'s 3

Updated '8:00 am bells' Monday 4th December 2011
"GARY SPEED---WE WILL REMEMBER HIM!"

OK!---OK!---OK!---Somebody said to me that 'The Geordie Times' was 'temptin fate' by sayin that we had went 273 days withoot defeat at home---anly to lose 3-0 to Chelsea today!
At the end of the day we were  gannih lose at some point coz yih cannit gan on forever withoot losin'!---can yi????

In an emotional and incident packed game we were unfortunate to gan behind just before the break when Drogba heeded past Tim Krul from a disputed throw in.
As orly as the 4th minute, Demba Ba was clean through at The Gallowgate End but was hacked doon by Chelsea's David Luiz, but the ref anly showed a yellow card instead of red!
Then a penalty to the visitors in the 13th minute, taken by Lampard was supurbly saved by Krul who tipped the shot onto the post and it rebounded oot!

The 2nd half was to and fro and we hit the woodwork three times but the baall just wouldn't gan in and then in the final minutes two more goals from Chelsea sealed the game for them and wor unbeaten home run stetchin' back to March was ower!

Worse news was to follow when it was conformed that Steven Taylor cud be oot for the rest of the season when he ruptured his achilles tendon in the last few minutes of the game!
Attendance: 52,305 (best of season) (2,800 'Pensioners' in The Leazes End)

Double Disaster for Tyneside

THE HEED  1  TAWWORTH  2

Gatesheed aalso went doon less than 2 hours after wor game finished when they lost 2-1 to Tamworth @ The International Stadium in the FA Cup 2nd roond in front of just ower 1,100 fans.

'Geordie Times' 100 pub crawl report to follow later!

THE TOON v THE KINGS ROAD O.A.P's

Posted '9:15 am bells' Saturday 3rd December 2011

For the second Saturday home game in a row we will kick off @ 12:45 bells for the convenience of live telly against 'The Pensioners of Chelsea'.
The Tribute to Gary Speed has been postponed by the request of his wife Louise so that she can be present when the tribute takes place.

This is because she is at Elland Road today for their tribute to Gary and she is very touched and has expressed a desire to be present at ours.
The tribute will now take place in wor forthcomin' home game against Welsh side Swansea City which seems very appropriate.

A minutes applause will still take place and fans are asked to bring their black 'n' white scarves alang in support of Gary.

On the otha side of the Tyne Bridge @ '3 bells' 'The Heed Army' take on Tamworth in the 2nd roond of the FA Cup and we wish them well in their quest for a place in the 3rd roond draw, which of course will include NUFC!

It's just a pity that they couldn't have moved the kick off time or date back so that more fans could have been present. (Az wor game will finish at approx '2:40 bells', this gives anyone intendin' to de both games anly 20 minutes to get from groond to groond----a virtually impossible task, unless! yoo have a Ferrari!)

'The Geordie Times 100 pub crawl challenge' continues @ '11;00 bells @ Shearers Bar underneath The Gallowgate End and then we move on to The Black Bull on the corner of Barrack Road just ower from The Leazes End if anybody Fancy's joinin' us?

Match reports of both above games to follow much later!

GARY SPEED REMEMBERED

Posted '8:00 pm bells' Friday 2nd December 2011

Gary was part of the forst ever NUFC team to win a derby match @ 'The S.O.S.' on Sunday 24th February 2002, when we beat the SMB's 1-0

The picture shows Gary, on the left, joinin' in the   celebrations just after the 64th minute winnin' goal  which was heeded into the top corner of the net by a 'shirtless' Nicos Dabizas, in front of the delirious 3,000 Toon fans who were behind the goal!
