"WE WILL REMEMBER THEM!"
BUGLARS PLAY 'THE LAST POST' BEFORE KICK OFF
♫"HE FLIES LIKE A BIRD IN THE SKY-I-I-I!♬

We simply didn't naa wot to expect from a team that haz been blowin' hot and cold aall season!

Luckily for us it woz canny waam (warm) in the freezing cold! and we came oot 2-1 winners thanx to a spectacular flyin' heeded goal by Yedlin in the first half and a close range effort from Clark to put him on 3 goals for the season (top goalscorer!)
ACTION AT THE LEAZES END (1st half)

NUFC went behind in the 14th minute when an unmarked Wilson slammed the baall into the net from just inside the penalty area to give Bornmoooth the lead at The Gallowgate End!

We are made of sterner stuff these days and the Yedlin equaliser came in the 42nd minute from a great centre by Saint Maximin (or woz it a shot?) which Yedlin heeded in from close range as he flew through the air!

Just before this Maximin had broke through the Bornmoooth defence and hit the bar, when it looked much easier to score!
We went in level at the break!
THE MOON SHINES BRIGHTLY IN THE DARK SKY
AZ THE TOON ATTACK THE GALLOWGATE GOAL (2nd half)

The game could have went eethaa way, as both teams had chances in the 2nd period, but it woz 'us' who got the vital 2nd goal through Clark in the 53rd minute after a scramble in the box and he toe poked the baall into the goal!

Almiron woz dead unlucky not to get hiz forst goal for The Toon 10 minutes from the end, when hiz shot hit Saint Maximin who lay injured in the Gallowgate penalty area, and (of course) it went wide!  UNREEEL! (In othaa words, Saint Maximin 'denied' Almiron and 'saved' Bornmoooth from gannin 3-1 doon!)

7 minutes of injury time woz added, but we managed to haad on to claim back to back wins and propel us up to the dizzy heights of 11th in the table, above the likes of Moan U and Sporz (for the time bein at least!)

Toon team: Dubravka, Yedlin, Fernandez, Lascelles (Dummett 20), Clark, Willems, Shelvey, Hayden, Almiron, Saint-Maximin (Atsu 90), Joelinton
CAN YOO SPOT THE BORNMOOOTH FANS AND EMPTY SEATS?

Attendance: 44,424? (800 or so Bornmoooth fans huddled in the far corner of level 7 in The Leazes End)
With quite a few empty seats, we estimate that the actual attendance woz aroond aboot 40,000!) (This iz still nearly SIX times higher than the SMBs got for their FA Cup tie with Gillingham on the same afternoon!  (7,800!)

*More pix and team line ups to follow later az a'm gannin to a remembrance ceremony at '11:00 bells'

Geordie Times grovellin apology!--We said that Clark woz wor top goalscorer with 3 goals!====In fact he iz wor joint top goalscorer with Shelvey on 2 goals!

DR JEKYLL OR MR HYDE?

NUFC gan into tomorrow's home game against Bornmoooth in  buoyant mood after wor great 3-2 win at West Ham last Saturday to give us 3 wins in 11 Premyaa Leegue starts! (3 draws and 5 defeats =12 points)

We can anly hope that wor 'Jekyll and Hyde' performances so far this season will produce a 'Dr Jekyll' performance and NOT a 'Mr Hyde' one!  (Or shud that be the othaa way roond???)

Bornmoooth, however, are aalso in 'buoyant mood' after their 1-0 home win against Moan United last week and hopefully it will be a canny 'game in the rain' (wethaa forecast for tomorrow) and that we can win 'back to back' games for the forst time this season!

Sean Longstaff iz still suspended and both Fabian Schar and Matt Ritchie are expected to miss the game az they recover from injury!

Wor visitors are not expected to bring more than 500 fans, so the crowd is likely to be in the low 40,000s as the boycott continues!

Meeenwhile!---wor U23s were in action at Blue Flames in Benton at dinnaatime today against West Brom U23s and lost 1-0 in The U23s Premyaa Leegue Cup group stage in front of a 144 'crowd'!
(which included 'Broken Nose Bruce')

A full 'Geordie Times' match report on the Bornmoooth game will appear here on Sunday--az per usual---watch this space!

THE CAR PARK IN QUESTION NEXT TO THE STRAWBERRY BOOZER (IN BLUE)
WITH THE GALLOWGATE END BEYOND

The plannin' decision to allow/not to allow a massive tower block development on land to the south of St. James' Park will take place tomorrow by Newcasil City Cooncil in Jesmond (A Newcasil suburb)
CURRENT VIEW OF "THE CATHEDRAL ON THE HILL", FROM GALLOWGATE

The land iz where the current car park iz, behind The Gallowgate Stand and shud the development pass the vote, it will block fabulous views of "The Cathedral on the Hill", az Bobby Roobson caalled it!
Aalso, it could stop any future expansion of The Gallowgate End and 'land-lock' SJP!

Despite huge protest from NUFC fans, we fear that it WILL be allowed to gan aheed and yet more tower blocks will surround the stadium!

The Geordie Times will of course bring yoo, wor loyal reeeders the decision az soon az we find oot!

TOP GOALSCORER JONJO SHELVEY CELEBRATES HIZ GOAL
IN FRONT OF THE TOON FANS AT WEST HAM!

Incredibleee!, Jonjo Shelvey's 2nd goal of the season against West Ham, makes him NUFCs top goalscorer, az we heed into November!
Aaaltogether, we now have NINE (9!) different goalscorers so far, in leegue and cup!----and they are!

Shelvey, 2 goals
Joelinton, 1 goal
Muto, 1 goal (Leegue Cup)
Schar, 1 goal
Willems, 1 goal
Matty Longstaff, 1 goal (MOTD goal of the month winner!)
Lascelles, 1 goal
Clark, 1 goal
Fernandez, 1 goal

PS: Despite scorin' 3 goals at West Ham, NUFC are STILL in 89th place for goals scored, oot of the current 91 clubs, with just 9 leegue goals.
Anly Wotfaad with 6 goals and Bolton with 7 goals have scored less goals in leegue futbaall this season!

"SPOT THE TRAMPOLINE?"

*"IT SHUD HAVE BEEN SIX!"

For a change the train journey doon to King's Cross (London) woz on time and so we heeded for 'The Merchants Tap' in Hackney Wick not far from the groond for the customary pre match 'liquid lubrications' at '11:30 bells' (with 'Tiny Rebel' real ale at £5:50 a pint!) The pub iz in a disused factory warehouse and iz a bit of a mess inside!---very basic to say the least!---BUT! it did sell BEER!

"REBEL!---REBEL!"--THIS PLACE IZ A MESS!"

It woz soon time to heed for the match (3 hours drinkin time later!)and thankfully the predicted heavy rain didn't happen and we had a 'soak free' walk to the London Stadium!
WE TOOK 'THE SCENIC ROUTE' TO THE STADIUM!

With 3,000 Toon fans in attendance, split into 2 section, divided by a 'trampoline' (see top photo) we were in buoyant mood!

Wor enthusiasm woz justified az we pounded the goal in front of the travellin' fans and 2 excellently heeded goals from Clark and Fernandez gave us a 2-0 lead-----but it shud have been many more az Saint-Maximin ran through the West Ham defence twice, but with anly their goalie to beat he shot at the keepers feet for the forst one--and passed to Almiron for the second, but hiz shot rebounded oot az well, (off a defender) when it looked easier to score!
Jonjo Shelvey aalso hit the bar from a great effort and we went in 2-0 up at half time, instead of 5-0 up!

We attacked the far goal in the 2nd period and soon it woz 3-0 when Shelvey hit a low free kick from ootside the box and it went into the net with their keeper beaten---to huge roars from the Toon faithful az the 'Jellied Eels Mob' fans heeded for the exits!
(Explanation: 'Jellied eels' are a favourite delicacy in "eest Landan", where West Ham fans come from!)

NUFC were 'cruisin' but 2 very sloppy goals near the end from West Ham nearly spoiled wor afternoon, but we held on to claim the valuable 3 points which lifts us up to 15th in the table and just 1 point behind Moan U in 10th place!
Wor 3 goals doubled wor away tally for the season and we now have 9 goals in total from 11 games and 12 points! (Happier days for certain)

We heeded for the night life of Camden Town after the game (with some pints more than £6 there!) before heedin back to King's Cross to catch the '8:00 bells' train yem and arrived back on Tyneside just after 'midneet bells' (4 hours back, because of 'line work'!)---but still at the predicted time---the forst time this season that we haven't had major train mishaps! (Happy days aall roond!)

Toon team: Dubravka, Yedlin, Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark, Willems (Dummett 87), Almiron, Hayden, Shelvey, Saint Maximin (Atsu 77), Joelinton (Carroll 89)

Attendance: 59,907 (3,000 buoyant Toon fans!)

*The post match celebrations took place in Camden Town!
