(PS: thought there would have been at least 1,000 there---but it woz very cold with snow flurries comin' doon!) <(soft b******s!)
It took the home side barely 7 minutes to gain the lead when Ryan Carr poked in an easy chance after Toon goalie Harker had fumbled the baall!
It woz 'honours even' in the 50th minute when Barlaser centred and Vuckic stabbed the baall home from close range!
That's the way it stayed until the dreaded penalty shoot out! (how come we hardly ever win one?)

SEASON 2007-2008
DATELINE: 17th JULY 2007
VICTORIA PARK ♦ HARTLEPOOL ♦ COONTY DURHAM
THE T☺☺N 3
FRIENDLY FIXTURE
ATTENDANCE: 6,030 (1,500 Toon fans)
“HIP!---HIP!---HORRAY!”
Aa
started off in ‘The Hotspur’ for the forst pre match ‘gargels’ of the new
season, where a gadgie with a beard complained to Shirley the barmaid that he
was’nt bein’ sorved quick enough and that she was givin’ priority to the
‘regulars’, even though there were anly two people propin up the coonta! (me
and anotha lad)
He
then got into an argument with Jimmy the manager and was promptly barred and
told to leave. His partin’ shot as he
stormed oot the door, was to caall him ‘a big fat sod’----welcome to the new season!
From
there aa caught the ‘metro’ to Gatesheed where aa was getting’ picked up by
‘The Caped Crusader’, in his ‘silver bat mobile’, but forst it was off to ‘The
Traf’ in the shadows of the ‘Get Carter’
car park to meet ‘Jonezee’ for a bit more ‘thirst quenchin’ before catchin’ wor
lift to ‘Monkeyhangerland’ at ‘three
thorty bells’!
It
pissed doon on the way but by the time we got parked next to the groond the aad
‘current bun’ made a ‘welcome’ appearance and we made for the anly boozer we
could find open a few hundred yards away (Wetherspoons!)
Then,
after a few more ‘jars’ there, it was time to heed for the match.
There
was an optimistic mood from the Toon faithful who packed the Rink End of the
groond and aa have to report that the ‘same old faces’ were present, which
included, ‘Unsteady Eddie’, ‘John the Chap’ and ‘Bill Quay Kev’ to name but a
few of the ‘culprits’!
Of
course there were ‘unfamiliar faces’ on the bench and the pitch with ‘Big Fat
Sam’, Joey Barton and ‘Roza’ Rozehnal aall makin’ their Toon ‘debuts’.
Both
Martins and Carroll came close, and debutant Barton had a divin’ heeder which
went narrowly wide, but apart from this the forst half petered oot. Shay Given
who was defendin’ the Toon’s goal at the Rink End had nowt to de, apart from
watchin’ the odd cloud pass owerheed!
The
second period was much better fare but unfortunately for us it was ‘The Monkey
Hangers’ who took the lead in the 49th minute when James Brown (no!---not
the one who thinks he can sing!) beat Harper who had replaced Given in goal.
However!---the
lead was short lived as Dyer fed a baall to Shola Ameobi who had come on at
half time, and he rounded their keeper to poke the baall into an empty net.
Shola,
who’d had a hip operation in the close season, ran to the Toon fans behind the
goal and they responded with chants of:--- “HE’S GOT A BRAND NEW HIP!”.
This
brought a wry smile from the ‘big man’ as he punched the air in delight!
Then
on the hour mark, lang haired James Troisi slotted the baall to somebody
caalled Michael Owen? and he gleefully converted the chance to give him his
forst goal since he scored a hat-trick at West Ham just before Xmas 2005!
(was
it reeely that! lang ago???)
Shola
then completed the scorin’ for the neet in the 72nd minute when
‘Lang haired Jim’ played the baall to him and he fired home after their keeper
fumbled the baall and was unable to stop it gannin’ ower the line.
More
‘hip’ chants then followed alang with: “Shepherd for Durham !” (wot cud! they mean???)
Ootside
the groond on the final whistle, ‘John the Badge’ was deein’ a roarin’ trade
sellin’: ‘Another fine mess!’---‘Freddy’s off to Jail!’, tee-shirts
which showed a photo of ‘yee naa who’ wearin’ a ‘Oliver Hardy’ hat!
The
crazy world of Newcastle United NEVA !
fails to amaze me!!!!
“Aaltogether now!”---

left hip in!---♫Yi put your left hip
out!♫---
♫Yi do the

it all about!♫♫♫

THE TOON 1 DARBEE COONTY 0 *** EFL 2016-2017
Posted 'high noon 'bells' Sunday 5th February 2017
(Updated '10:23 am bells' Munday)
"GOOD FORTUNE & 'RICH' PICKINGS!"
Matt Richie scored hiz 6th goal in 5 games to propel NUFC back to the top of the Championship (for the time bein') and hiz shot at the Leazes End in the forst half deflected off a Coonty defender and flew into the net!
Thiz somehow waz the anly goal of the game---aa say "somehow" az both sides had great opportunities to score, but fluffed their chances!
Diame had a great shot brilliantly saved in the forst half---Perez had a lob cleared off the line and Mitro missed a couple of good chances az well after the break!
Tom Ince for Darbee, in particular looked certain to score az he stood near the left hand post in the 2nd half, but inexplicably put the baall wide from one yard oot!---Good fortune waz smilin' on us for certain, az we put in anothaa disjointed performance and Coonty manager 'The Wally with the Brolly' can 'coont' himself unlucky not to come away with a draw!
Toon team: Darlow, Yedlin, Hanley, Clark, Dummett, Richie, Shelvey, Hayden (Perez 49) , Gouffran (Lascelles 93), Diame, Mitrovic (Ameobi 84)
Attendance: 52, 271 (3,200 Darbee fans) Highest crowd of the season
Brytin play Brentfaad today and will gan back to the top with a win----lets hope the London side put a spanner in their works!
Aalso keep an eye on 'uddersfield v Leeedz who are in the play off positions--a draw would be the best result for 'us' in this one!
Update Munday
Brytin drew with Brentfaad, scorin' the equaliser in the 97th minute!---'uddersfield beat Leeedz, (which, az its torned oot) wasn't a bad result for us after aall!
We are still top, one point aheed of Brytin and six points above Readin' in thord place

"WOT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!"
Brighton's defeat at 'uddersfield last neet woz totally unexpected and it meeenz that IF we can beat 'The Wally with the Brolly's Darbee, then we gan back to the top of the pile!
More worryingly, 'Rafa the Gaffa' iz said to be furious that the Toonsend transfor didn't gan through and 2 papers, namely The Independent and The Mail have said he could 'waalk' at the end of the season because of this and othhaa failed transfor bids!
Update Saturday:
Rafa haz since said: "I WON'T leave---I WON'T quit!
I want to get promoted with this team and do well!
I will put all my effort into that!"
The game iz a complete selloot!
The Geordie Times will of course have a full match report and pix on Sunday----sometime!

THE TOON 2 THE STEPTOE'S FROM SHEPHERD'S BUSH 2 *** EFL 2016-2017
Posted '11:11am bells' Thorsday 2nd February 2017
"IT FEELS LIKE A DEFEAT!"
We started off with 'aall guns blazin' and took the lead with barely 40 seconds on the clock when Jonjo Shelvey fired home from 20 yards oot at The Leazes End!
And then we sat back and let QPR come at us instead of 'finishin' them off!
Ciaran Clark then suffered a bad heed injury after a clash of heeds with QPR's Mackie and had to gan off for treatment
The equaliser came bang on half time (az ever!) and waz fully desorved by wor visitors!
We regained the lead in the 54th minute through a Matt Richie heeder at The Gallowgate End, but couldn't 'finish off' 'The Steptoes'!
Perez missed 2 great chances, when he shot when he shud have passed to Richie---and passed to 'no one'?,when he shud have had a shot!
Just when it looked az though we would grab the 3 points, Ciaran Clark inexplicably back heeded ower Darlow in the last minute to give QPR a point!
The fact that we didn't add fresh faces to wor squad in the transfor window may well come back to haunt us!
With the chasin' pack rapidly catchin' up on us, the taalk amongst the Toon fans in 'The Newcastle Arms' after the match,woz-------"Will we end up in the play-offs?"
Toon team: Darlow, Yedlin. Lascelles, Clark, Dummett, Richie, Shelvey, Hayden, Gouffran, Perez (Diame 86), Murphy (Ameobi 66)
Attendance: 47, 907 (500 QPR) Lowest crowd of the season in the EFL

THE TOON v THE STEPTOE RAG & BONE MEN FROM SHEPHERD'S BUSH *** TOONEET!
Posted '1:17pm bells' Wednesday 1st February 2017
Tooneet we welcome that 'numbskull' of a manager Ian Holloway and hiz QPR side to SJP and (hopefully?) we will grab the 3 points on offer az well!
If wor 6-0 annialation of 'The Steptoes' @ Loftus Road orlier this season iz anythin' to gan by, then the points are in the bag!
BUT!--this IZ NUFC and so divvint 'jump the gun' like we did ower the Toonsend 'non' transfor! (see below!)
'The Biscuitmen of Readin' won again last neet and are nuw anly THREE points behind us in thord place, havin' played 2 games more!
We expect at least NINE changes from the team that 'played'? at Oxfaad on Saturday and anly a win will de!
'The Steptoes' have anly sold 500 of their 1,500 allocation of tickets, so expect a sub 50,000 crowd this evenin'!
A full and compreeehesive match report will appear here sometime tomorrow!
Az per usual, "Watch this space!"

“CUP-ITULATION!”--
"AZ THE OXO 'GRAVY TRAIN' COMES OFF THE RAILS!"
"AZ THE OXO 'GRAVY TRAIN' COMES OFF THE RAILS!"
Lets be brutally
honest here!---this performance from NUFC’s 2nd string? waz az dire
az it gets!
When I saw
that Sels waz in goal (wor 3rd choice keeper) yoo just knew wot woz
comin’ next!
A line up with
9 changes from wor last game that had me ’finkin’ that a draw waz on the cards
and yet anothaa midweek replay---Aa shouldn’t have worried though az these
performances seem to be saved for the FA Cup and yet anothaa exit before
February haz come! (saves on expensive trips to Wembley in May!---eh!)
“WE’VE GOT
MORE FANS THAN YOU, NEW-CAS-IL!, NEW-CAS-IL!
The day
starterd off at 5:45 am bells’ when aa caught the forst bus to the Toon and
then onward by train to---DURHAM!
‘Jimmy the
Riddle’ woz pickin’ us up there (‘us bein’ me and ‘Adam (without) Aunt’ az the
train fare aall the way to Oxfaad waz a mouth waaterin’ £144! It cost me the grand total of £5.10 for a
retorn ticket to Durham and £30 for petrol in Jimmy’s Mag-mobile’ (see photo!)
![]() |
| 'THE MAG-MOBILE'! "I told Jimmy in no uncertain terms that the only way I would travel to Oxfaad by car would be in a one with black n white stripes!--- SO!--- he went oot and bought one!" |
A bit
cheaper than the train fare ‘aall the way doon’---so that waz the way we
travelled!
At the
Central there were loads of people wearin’ claret n blue scarves and hats and
not one person wearin’ any Toon gear?
Were they
Gatesheed fans heedin’ for Torquay (where The Heed were playin’ (Gatesheed’s 2nd
strip iz claret n blue) or some rugby club heedin’ somewhere?
Mee
curiosity got the better of me and aa asked one of them ‘who there were and
where were they gannin’?
“SOOTH
SHEELDZ!” came the reply---“We’re playin’ Solent from Sooothampton in the FA
Vase!”
The carriage
I woz in on the train to King’s Cross waz packed with them and not a Toon fan
in sight (£144 probably put them off!)
And then—just
before the train pulled oot one of mee travellin’ companions torned up, namely
'Adam (withoot) Aunt' <(he NEVA brings hiz aunty!)
We got off
at Durham az planned and Jimmy waz waitin’ in hiz ‘Mag-mobile’ to whisk us away
to Oxfaad!
On the way
we picked Adam’s daddy up at Northampton sorvices (he lives there) < (Eh!--Northampton
NOT the sorvices!) who woz caalled Brian and we sped off towards wor final
destination!
Oxfaad’s groond
iz some 4 and a half miles from the city centre and the ‘plan’? woz to park
there and get a bus into Oxfaad for a few ‘gargels’ with the lads who went aall
the way by train!
We parked up
next to the away end at ’high noon bells’and heeded for the bus stop, a 10
minute waalk away on the Blackbird Leys estate! <(where there were riots in
the 1990’s !)
The bus
jorney woz torturous az we made wor way through heavy traffic—passin’ several ‘drinkin’
dens’ on the way!—It woz takin’ ages and I suggested we get off at the next
boozer az time woz getting on (‘12:20 bells’ by this time) 'Jimmy the Riddle' woz
havin non of it!
“We’ll stay
on and meet the lads!” he exclaimed, addin’ that az HE woz the driver and couldn’t
drink anyway, he wasn’t bothered aboot the rest of us getting’ wor pre match
gargels! <(SELFISH B*****D!)
We eventually
arrived in the centre some 30 mins after getting’ on the bus!---but ended up a
lang way from where wor companions were drinkin’!---This woz because the
postcode they gave us to tell us where they were woz WRANG (OX1 1SU instead of
OX1 3SU!) so we decided that az it woz now ‘qwaataa to one bells’ to heed for
the nearest hostelry instead just around the corner from where we were!
The rest of
them eventually foond us (“HORRAY!”) and ‘Colonel Gadaffi’ said that there woz
a ‘hysterical’ pub alang the road caalled ‘The Chequers’ (see photo!) which woz
wor next ‘port o call’
We went
there but it wasn’t that ‘hysterical’—more ‘historical’ (‘The Colonel’ IZ getting’
on a bit!) and soon it woz time to heed back to the groond and face the
torturous 30 minute retorn jorney!
![]() |
| HISTORICAL OR HYSTERICAL? |
We made it
with a little time to spare and heeded for the away end where the 1,800 or so Toon
fans were housed!
We needn’t
have bothered comin’ az Rafa sent oot a resorve team who didn’t seem to be ‘up
for it’!
![]() |
| THE TOON ATTACK 'THE OXO ULTRAS END' (1st half) |
Really we
shud have been aheed at the break but fluffed chances cost us and the 2nd
half woz a different story!
![]() |
| ACTION IN FRONT OF THE MAIN STAND |
With ‘The
Oxo Ultras’ fans behind the far goal and the home side kickin’ that way, they
were aheed barley 30 seconds after the restart when Hemmings scrambled the
baall into the back of wor net from a corner kick!
And then in
the 66th minute we had a bit of luck az Mitrovic woz bundled ower in
the box and the ref gave us a penalty. Mitrovic took it himself but
predictableee he missed it by placin’ the baall just to the right of their
keeper who managed to parry the baall away to cheers from The Oxo mob’
It woz soon
2-0 after this az wor heeds dropped! Anothaa corner which woz heeded in by
Nelson to ‘finish us off’!
The 3rd
and final humiliation came just before the end when Martinez heeded in from yet
anothaa corner to send many of The Toon fans to the exits!
Yet anothaa ‘’Disaster
Day’ for the faithful to endure and from a personal point of view this waz the
SEVENTEENTH TIME av seen NUFC lose to opposition from a lower division in the
FA Cup!!!!
