THE JELLIED EELS MOB OF WEST HAM 2 THE TOON 2 *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2023-2024

Posted 'high noon bells' Munday 9th Octobaa 2023

London Stadium iz indeed a happy huntin groond az far az we are concerned, with 4 wins, 2 draws and anly one defeat in the 7 times we have been to their new London Stadium abode----and the anly disappointment woz the fact that we gave a goal away in the 89th minute and had to settle for a draw!

The forst goal woz scored by West Ham when The Pope moved away from his goal line and Sousak had the simple task of slottin the baall into the net in the 8th minute!

It woz a boilin hot day in east London and aa had to carry mee coat in a carrier bag az the temperature woz in the high 20s---the hottest aa can ever 'fink' of for a game in Octobaa!

We simply wornt at the races and the home side were faster onto the loose baalls in the forst half and we went in 1-0 doon at the break!

At this point because of wor lack luster performance aa would have been happy with a draw!

The 2nd half woz much better az we attacked the goal where we were behind---row 5 at the front wasnt a good view of the action at the far end, but woz excellent az we were near to the goal!

Alexander the Great (Isak) torned oot to be wor savior with 2 goals in quick succession to waken us up in the heat!

Wor equaliser came in the 57th minute when a Trippier free kick foond the feet of Isak after a deflection and he fired home in front of the 3,000 travellin fans to send us into 'wake up mode'!

Toon fans celebrate Isak’s 1st goal!

Isak's 2nd goal came just 3 minutes later to put us 2-1 up az the Toon fans---who were still celebratin hiz forst goal-- went into meltdoon in the heat, when a Trippier cross foond him unmarked in front of goal and he casually placed the baall into the net!

And just 3 mins later!

Isak then roonded the West Ham keeper, but hiz shot rebounded off the post to safety to deny him hiz hat-trick!

Just when it looked as though we would get the 3 points up stepped at the far end to equalise with an 89th minute shot to break wor hearts!

2-2 the final score----a game we just couldnt get ower the line, but on the bright side (in the sun!) we are unbeaten in 7 games between International breaks in aall competitions, with 5 wins and 2 draws!

We'll settle for that!

Attendance: 62,473 (3,000 Toon fans)

THE TOON 4 PSG FROGGIES 1 *** CHAMPIONS LEEGUE GROUP STAGE 2023-2024

Posted 'high noon bells' Thorzday 5th Octobaa 2023

"JUST CHAMPION!---WOT A TEAM!---WOT A DREAM!"

We reeeely divvint naa wot to say aboot this stunnin' display, both on and off the pitch!

The build up woz brilliant with the whole groond (apart from the PSG end) covered in black n white and then the famous magpie appeared on a new surfer in the middle of The Gallowgate End az the team came oot to the soond of The Champions Leegue anthem!---Memorable stuff that none of us will forget!⬇️

And then the 'memorable stuff' on the pitch az we slaughtered PSG from start to finish, with their star man Mbappa lookin' confused and contained by non othaa than Jamaal Lascelles!

Miggy Almiron opened the scorin in the 17th minute at The Leazes End after Isak's rebound of a defender foond the feet of 'Miggy' and he made nee misstayk az he blasted the baall into the net to huge roars from the Toon fans! (1-0 to us!)

Almiron goal celebrations!

Then 'The Boy from Blyth' (Dan Burn) heeded in a Bruno cross which went to a very lengthy VAR check, before finally being given az the ref pointed to the centre spot to put us 2-0 up! (at forst we thought the check woz for a 'did it cross the goal line, check' ---but in fact it woz an offside check!) HT 2-0

Dan Burn goal!

The dream continued in the 2nd half az we attacked the Gallowgate goal and it didnt take lang to stretch wor lead to 3-0 (5 mins) when 'local boy' Sean Longstaff hit a sweat shot from the right hand side of the goal from a Trippier pin point pass and hiz effort went in off their keeper to increase the margin!

The Froggies then pulled a goal back through Hernandez 5 mins later az hiz glancin heeder went in past 'The Pope' in the Toon goal to set up a norvy few minutes az PSG went to get a  2nd!

Thankfully that didnt happen and just into stoppage time up stepped 'Fab' Schar to hit a screamer from a Jacob Murphy 'one two' from 20 yards oot to seal a memorable victory!

"OIL TAKE THAT!"

It hard to beleeeve that from the 4 goal scorers, 2 were from the local area and the othaa 2 were here before the takeower in Octobaa 2021!

Oil money won it? ---my arse!

This result even beats the 3-2 success ower Barcelona in 1997 and woz wor best ever performance in Europe ---game 136! (game 149 if yoo include 13 Anglo-Italian games)

PS: Thiz woz mee 115th consecutive European game home or away (109th excludin Anglo-Italian Cup games (6)

Aalso I am proud to say that I have been to 100% of aall European games at SJP (from Feyenoord in 1968 onwards!) Played 75  Attended 75 (69 not includin Anglo-Italian Cup games)

"F' TROUP!"

Happy days?----yoo bet they are!-----NUFC are TOP of Group 'F' table now, az Dortmund and AC Milan drew 0-0 in Jawmany!

Bring on Borussia Dortmund!

Attendance: 52,009 (2,600 Froggies!)

Posted just after 'high noon'bells' onwards, Sunday 1st Octobaa 2023

ISAK'S PENALTY TO SEAL THE VICTORY

"FIVE IN A ROW!"

For the forst time in many a year aa missed the kick off coz the queues were massive to get in!---Aa missed the forst 2 minutes despite leavin The Leazes End Club (Companions) 40 minutes before the kick off, joinin the queue 5 minutes later!---Total chaos with some fans still ootside 30 minutes after the kick off!---NUFC reely shud get this sorted az the didgy ticket on phones simply take too lang to get in, with some not workin! (There woz nee issues with the plastic card season tickets we used to have!)

For the fifth time in 14 days we conceded zero goals and gained wor thord Premyaa Leegue scalp in a row!  The 5 games in question are: Brentfaad 1-0, AC Milan 0-0, Sheff U 8-0, Man C 1-0 and now Bornleee 2-0!

It took just 14 minutes for us to make the breakthrough when Trippier dispossessed Ramsey just ootside the box and gave it to Miggy Almiron who hit a screamer into the corner of the net at The Leazes End to send the crowd potty!

There were many more chances to increase the lead but somehow lady luck woz on wor visitors side and we went in just one goal to the good, when it shud have been at least 4!

The 2nd period woz just the same with 'The Hillbillies' hardy crossin the halfway line, but they did have a 'purple patch' when an underserved equaliser nearly came aboot when a shot woz acrobatically pushed ower the bar by 'The Pope' in the Toon goal, for a rude wake up caall!

Al Dakhil then upended Anthony Gordon in the box in the 77th minute and the ref pointed straight to the spot!

Alexander the Great (Isak) took the penalty, sendin the Bornlee keeper the wrang way to double wor lead and end any hope of wor visitors makin a comeback! (They havvint won at SJP since 1976!)

More chances went a beggin and the final score woz just 2-0, rather than 6-0, which would have been a fairer ootcome!

Attendance: 52, 163 (2,500 Hillbilies in level 7 of The Leazes End)

THE TOON 1 THE BLUE MOONIES 0 *** LEEGUE CUP 3RD ROOND 2023-2024

Posted ‘high noon 🛎️s’ Thorzday 28th September 2023

CELEBRATIONS AT THE FINAL WHSTLE!

“'EIGHT' DAYS A WEEK!”

It’s been a great week for NUFC fans after wor exploits in Milan just ower a week ago and 8 goal demolition of Sheff U last Saturday!---The 3rd great result in the last 8 days happened last neet when we inflicted European champions Man City's forst defeat of the domestic season, to unbridled joy from the players and fans alike at the final whistle (see above video!)

It haz to be said that 'The Blue Moonies' were the better team in the forst half az Toon manager 'Steady Eddie' had made TEN changes to the startin line up from the 0-8 thrashin' of 'The Blade Runners' 4 days before!

The 2nd half woz different though az we dominated most of the half with the vital---and one and anly goal--comin in the 52nd minute, when Joelinton sent a cross in at The Gallowgate End and the baall ended up in front of 'Alexander the Great' (Isak) and from 1 yard oot he had the simple task of placin the baall into the net, to send most of the 50,000 plus crowd crazy with delight!

FANS REACTION TO ISAK’S GOAL!

It haz to be said that Tino Livramento woz the star of the game with an ootstandin performance!

Man City tried to find a way back, but their team--who had aalso made major changes, couldnt make the breakthrough and we held on to gain a place in the 4th roond of the competition!

We went to The Leazes End (Companions) club near The East Stand after the game to celebrate with a few 'liquid lubrications' and to watch the draw for the 4th roond on the telly!

Ex mackem failure Don Goodman picked the away teams oot of the bowl and when Man U came oot az the home team, he seemed to look into the bowl and grabbed number 16, which woz the NUFC baall !

“Is that number 16 down there?”

Woz it a fix?---anly Goodman and the Toon fans know that it WOZ and so we must play the other half of Manchester away in a few weeks time!

Attendance:: 51,000 (4,900 Blue Moonies)

THE TOON v THE BLUE MOONIES *** LEEGUE CUP TOOONEET!

Posted 'high noon bells' Wedinzday 27th Septembaa 2023

THE GEORDIE TIMES DRONE CAMERA  TOOK THIS PICTURE OF THE RED ARROW(S) FLYIN OWER SJP (HONEST!)

We said the games are comin thick and fast and they certainly are az we play wor 3rd game in different competitions in the last 8 days!

After wor exploits in Milan and the crazy 0-8 thrashin of Sheff U on Sunday, but it’s back home for a 3rd roond Leegue Cup tie v Man City tooneet!

Blue Moonies manager ‘Pep’ haz aall ready said that he will play a weakened team and nee doubt Steady Eddie will az well! (We shall soon find oot!)

Harvey Barnes foot injury he sustained at Bramall Lane iz worse than expected and he could be oot til Xmas! Nee sign of Joelinton or Joe Willock comin back eethaa, but Emil Krafth iz close to a retorn !

The game iz a sellout with fans able to buy their own seats in Level 7 of The Milburn Stand—-unlike previous season when we were forced to buy seats in the lower tiers!

The draw for the 4th roond iz made straight after the game and we would like a home draw again IF we get through?

A full Geordie Times match report will appear here sometime on Thorzday!  APR "Watch this space!"

THE BLADE RUNNERS 0 THE TOON 8 (EIGHT!) *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2023-2024

Posted 'high noon bells' Munday 25th September 2023

"BLADES CUT TO RIBBONS!"

NUFC recorded wor biggest ever away win in Leegue history and this woz SUFCs worst ever defeat! The fact that the forst goal didnt gan in til the halfway point of the forst half, meenz that we actually scored the 8 goals in a 66 minute period!---A goal every 8 minutes on average from Longstaff who opened the scorin in the 21st minute, to the 87th minute when Isak scored the last goal!----And 8 different goalscorers az well!

(The Toon played in wor dark Blue and yellow away kit)

The goal sequences in minutes were az follows! (deep breath!)

21 Sean Longstaff: Gordon cuts to the byline and sends a precision pass to Longstaff, who hit the baall home from inside the box! (0-1)

31 Dan Burn: A Trippier corner finds the divin heed of Burn, who bury's the baall into the net! (0-2)

35 Sven Botman: A Tripper free kick finds Botman and hiz glancin' heeder gan into the far corner! (0-3)   HT 0-3 to us!

51 Callum Wilson: A Trippier cross finds Wilson's heed and he makes nee misstayk from close in! (0-4)

61 Antony Gordon: Gordon cuts in from the wing and hits an unstoppable shot into the corner of the net from the edge of the box to send The Toon fans behind the goal into dreamland!

68 Miggy Almiron: Bruno sends Almiron away with a great through baall and Miggy hits a sweet shot into the goal (0-6)

73 Bruno: A deflected Burn shot finds Bruno unmarked in the penalty area and he hit it home for '7 heaven'! (0-7)

87 Alexander the Great (Isak): And finally!---wor 8th different scorer woz Isak who dribbes roond a Sheffeeeld defender to place hiz shot into the centre of the net! 'After 8 chocolates' at the ready! (0-8)

FT: NIL-EIGHT!

On top of this Callum Wilson missed 3 glorious chances and Anthony Gordon had a blatant penalty waved away by the blind ref!

Az a fan who haz travelled to away games for 56 years, this woz the biggest win I have witnessed!-----We beat Morecambe away 0-7 when covid 19 prevented us from gannin and the next highest away score actually witnessed by me, woz at Notts Coonty, when we won 1-7 in the Leegue Cup 30 years ago!

Every picture tells a story---Sheff U fans in the near deserted top tier of the stand, while The Packed Toon end below celebrates wildly with the players!

The record breakers!
