THE TOON 4. THE MOAN U MUPPETS 1 ***PREMYAA LEEGUE 2024-2025

Posted ‘high noon 🕛 bells 🔔’ Munday 14th April 2025

“GET WELL SOON EDDIE!”

Az heed coach ‘Steady Eddie’ watched on from hiz hospital bed in the RVI near SJP (so we were told), hiz team a few hundred yards away didn’t let him doon!

The Toon were on the front foot from the start az we attacked the Leazes End goal!

The goal sequences were az follows:

24th minute: After sustained pressure we finally took the lead when Isak set up Tonali who vollied a shot past rookie Moan U goalie Bayinder, who had replaced Onana due to some horrendous errors at Lyon in the Europa Leegue last week!

37th minute: Several more chances to double wor lead went ‘a beggin’ and we paid the price when a rare Moan U attack saw Dalot pass to Garnacho, who hit a shot that went in off the post with ‘The Pope’ in the Toon goal beaten! HT 1-1

49th minute: Bruno finds Livramento, who in turn finds Murphy at the far post. He lays a nice pass to Barnes, who 🔥 fires home from close range to restore wor lead! 2-1 to us!

64th minute: A stumble by Mazraoil lets in Harvey Barnes, who raced towards the Gallowgate goal and hit a superb shot past Bayinder, to put us 3-1 up!

77th minute: Rookie goalie Bayinder passes to Joelinton by misstayk and he heeds it doon to unmarked Bruno and he said “thank you very much!” az he had the simple task of firing into an empty net to complete the rout! By this time most of the MU Muppets had departed for trains 🚂 to King’s Cross and anywhere nee where near Manchester! 4-1 FT

This photo of the Moan U section woz taken in the 85th minute!

The roar of the crowd at the full time whistle could be heard at the RVI!

“Can yoo hear us Eddie Howe!?”

Attendance: 52,252 (It should be noted that for the forst time ever that there were empty seats in the Moan U sections!)

This photo of the Moan U section woz taken 5 minutes after kick off!

THE NUMBERS GAME:

4: The win lifts NUFC from 7th to 4th in the Premyaa Leegue table!

5:This woz wor 5th win in a row includin’ the Leegue Cup final!

94: This woz the forst time since 1931 that NUFC had done the double ower them—that’s 94 years ago!

PS: The NUFC mad-sad groundhoppers are on wor travels again this afternooon, when we heed to east Manchester, where wor U21s take on Man City U21s at their Joie Academy stadium, next door to the Ethiad Stadium at ‘7:00 🔔s tooneet!

“NEW GROOND! *** NEW GROOND!” 🤪👍 🏟️

A match report on that game will appear here sometime later this week!

And on Wedinzday we are back at SJP when we take on the Crisall Palliss Mob in the Premyaa Leegue!

Win that game and we will move up to 3rd in the table and just 4 points behind ‘The Arse’ in 2nd! 🙏🏻

THE TOON v MOAN U *** SUNDAY AFTERNOOON!

Posted 'high noon bells' Saturday 12th April 2025

GEORDIE TIMES HQ
(NOTE THE FRONT DOOR!)

We play the forst of wor last 8 games---and 3 in 6 days when NUFC take on Moan U at SJP tomorrow afternooon!----And then its Palliss at SJP on Wedinzday and Villa away next Saturday!

IF? we can take 7 points oot of the 9 available, this would jump us up to at least 4th in the Premyaa Leegue table!

Steady Eddie haz been ill in bed for a few days but hopefully he will be back in the dugoot come Sunday!?

Anthony Gordon iz set to retorn after suspension and injury and will feature at some point, which should be the anly change from the team that beat Lestaa last Munday! (But will Harvey Barnes make way for him?)

After Onana's dreadful performance in the Moan U goal at Lyon on Thorzday, which ended 2-2 (because of 2 horrendous misstayks by him!), wor visitors will be very nervous come kick off time, especially if Onana izn't dropped! (Pleeeze play him Amorim!)

Whereaz, The Toon have a great chance to qualify for the Champions Leegue next season, Moan Us anly chance iz if they win the Europa Cup!

Az they cannit finish anywhere near any of the European places on Leegue form, then surely they will play a weakened team against us, for fear of injuries when the play the 2nd leg v Lyon at The Theatre of Muppets next Thorzday?

UPDATED '10:40pm bells'

EDDIE HOWE

“Get well soon Eddie, from aall Toon fans!”🙏🏻

UPDATED 'MIDNEET BELLS'

Results on Saturday mean that should we beat Moan U on Sunday afternooon, NUFC will climb to 4th in the Premyaa Leegue table!---We understand that Jason Tindall will take charge in light of Eddie Howe's absence!----Hopefully he will be back in the dugoot on Wedinzday neet against Palliss!

If we win wor game in hand v Palliss on Wedinzday az well, we will owertake 3rd placed Forest, who lost at home to Evaatin!

The Toon must be 100% comitted in both games to achieve this!

Fingers (and toes!) crossed!

A full Geordie Times match report on the Moan U game will appear here sometime on Munday!

And talkin aboot Munday--'The NUFC mad-sad groundhoppers' will be on wor travels to east Manchester when NUFC U21s play Man City U21s at their Joie Academy Stadium at '7:00pm bells'----A groond we have never been tee before, which iz within 'hocklin distance' from The Ethiad Stadium!

" ROCK AROOND THE CLOCK!"

Posted 'high noon bells' Friday 11th April 2025

Chelseee'z 3-0 away win against Legia Warsaw last neet, meenz that they are virtually certain to gan through to the semi finals of 'The Conference Leegue', with the 2nd leg at Stamford Bridge next Thorzday, seemingly a mere formality!?

This meenz that wor Premyaa Leegue game against them iz 99.9% certain to take place on Sunday 11th May, with an absolutleee ridiculous 'high noon bells' kick off!!!----On a Sunday???

'The Geordie Times' haz been lookin at wor kick off times this season and believe it or not? we will have had 14 (FOURTEEN!) different kick off times (at least!), come the end of the season! (grovellin apologeeez if we've missed any oot!?)

And they are!---("deep breath!")

'High noon bells'--'12:30'---'1:30'---'1:45'---'2:00'---'3:00'---'4:00'---'4:30'---'5:30'---'5:45'---'7:30'---'7:45'---'8:00'---and '8:15' bells'!

The curse of the live telly games kick off times seems to get worse and worse az each season passes!----How lang before we have a 'midneet bells' kick off to suit wor friends 'across the pond'--or a '4:00am bells' in the mornin' kick off for wor Australian friends???---We ask worselz!

CHAMPIONS LEEGUE BOOST!

 Posted ‘6:00pm 🛎️ bells’ Wedinzday  9th April 2025

THE CURRENT PREMYAA LEEGUE TABLE!

It haz been conformed that there will defiantly be 5 Champions Leegue places for the top 5 in The Premyaa Leegue next season, because of The Arses 3-0 win ower Real Madrid last neet! (Which boosts Inglish clubs coefficient points to top place)

This iz excellent news for aall at NUFC az we sit in 5th place at the moment WITH a game in hand ower the rest—-and could possibly finish 3rd if aall the results gan wor way from now til the end of the season!

There are 8 ‘cup finals’ to gan before the season concludes at the end of May! 🙏🏻

THE BASIL BRUSH BRIGADE OF LESTAA 0. THE TOON 3 *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2024-2025

Posted ‘high noon🔔 bells’ Tuezday 8th April 2025

TOON IN THE AALL WHITE STRIP!

“RUUD AWAKENING”

Yid fink that somebody who starred for Moan U in their glory days under ‘Fergy’, that Ruud Van Nistelrooy would be a canny manager, but just like Moan Us former stars like Rooney and Brucey, he iz a complete failure!

A new Futbaall Leegue record stretching back to 1888, woz the unwanted record for Ruud after this game, with 8 consecutive home defeats and nee goals scored! (Some record!)

It took The Toon just 2minutes to open the scorin when Tino Livramento fired in a cross and Jacob Murphy woz on hand to toe poke the baall into the net at the far end from where the 3,300 Toon fans were housed! 1-0 to us!

It took just another 9 minutes to double wor lead when Fabian Schar spotted the Lestaa goalie way off the goal line  he hit a great shot from the halfway line which hit the bar!

It rebounded to Murphy and he said ‘thankyou very much’ az he placed the baall into the corner of the goal az the Lestaa goalie scrambled to get back to the goal line! 2-0 to us! (and 2 goals for Jacob!)

The 3rd —-and wot torned oot to be the last goal of the game came in the 33rd minute when a Joelinton shot rebounded to Harvey Barnes and he hit a sweet shot into the net from inside the box! 3-0 to us!

This prompted 100s of disgruntled home fans to heed for the exits az large gaps started to appear in the blue seats!

We could have had many more bofore the HT interval, but couldn’t find the net again!  HT 3-0 to us!

The 2nd half woz a bit different az both teams kept giving the baall to each other, so this half woz one to forget!  We did have more chances to increase wor lead,(az did Lestaa to score, with loads of corners!) but the game petered oot az the Basil Brush Brigade’s fans steadily made for the exits az the half progressed!

FT 3-0 to us!

The win lifted us up to 5th place above Man City and level on points with Chelseee in 4th, but with a slightly worse goal difference—plus we have a game in hand!

8 ‘cup finals’ to gan in wor quest for a Champuons Leegue place!

It should be noted that one of The Toon fans who shall remain nameless caalled Russ, told us in The Regent Club in Lestaa, that Alexander Isak haddint travelled doon on the team bus!
But when the team line ups came through on wor phones, there woz Isak in the startin 11!
There woz outrage amongst the NUFC fans in the club for this ‘scare-mongerin’ and we make nee apology for shamin this ‘clown’ in The Geordie Times, when he woz ordered to stand in front of The Naughty Corner in the club az punishment!

Attendance: 30,403 (3,300 happy Toon fans! (The attendance must have included Lestaa ST holders who didn’t torn up!)

THE BASIL BRUSH BRIGADE OF LESTAA v THE TOON *** MUNDAY NEET!

Posted 'high noon bells' Sunday 6th April 2025

The race for the 5 Champions Leegue places iz hottin' up az we heed to relegation threatened Lestaa at their King Power groond!

They are in freefall havin lost their last 7 games in a row, while we have won wor last 3 in a row includin the famous victory at Wembley last month!

After Saturday’s results we find worselz in 7th place, but with 2 games in hand of those aroond us!

IF Man City beat Moan U at The Theatre of Muppets this afternoon and Chelsea beat Brentfaad then we can’t overtake them on Munday!

A win at Lestaa tomorrow will lift us up at least 1 place to 6th, (or 4th if both Chelsea or Man C lose!) so we must be 100% to grab the 3points!

IF we dee win then this will virtually relegate ‘The Basil Brush Brigade’ az they will be 15 points from safety, with just 7 games left!

Aall 3,300 away tickets were snapped up ages ago!  Wonder how many empty seats there will be in the home sections, considering their plight and live telly coverage!?

Anthony Gordon ends hiz 3 game suspension, but Harvey Barnes haz played MAGnificently in hiz place, so ‘Steady Eddie’ haz a very difficult decision to make on that score!

Trippier, Isak and Joelinton are carrying knocks, but hopefully they should be OK come the ‘8:00 🔔s’ kick off!

A full Geordie Times match and booze report will appear here az per usual when we get back on Tuezday afternoon! APU “Watch this space!”

THE TOON 2 THE BRENTFAAD BEEZ KNEEZ 1 *** PREMYAA LEEGUE 2024-2025

Posted just after 'high noon bells' Thorzday 3rd April 2025

"BEE STING!"

Just ower 2 weeks since wor famous Wembley win, we took on Brentfaad last neet at a rockin SJP!

It certainly wasnt a classic game, but we managed to ground oot a 2-1 win az wor visitors from west London hadnt come here to join the party!

Indeed The Beez of Brentfaad had won 5 succesive away games in a row and were determined to make it 6 in a tight game!

Both sides had chances in the forst half and Harvey Barnes heeded in from a Isak punt inside the box, but he woz offside az VAR conformed!---Isak shud have scored himself, but opted to pass to Barnes!

Not to worry though, az just a minute later and into stoppage time, 'Alexander the Great' made amends when a great Jacob Murphy centre from the right foond Isak, who stuck hiz right foot oot and direct the baall into the net at The Gallowgate End!

HT 1-0 to us!

Like aa say The Beez of Brentfaad were determined to find an equaliser and it came in the 66th minute when 'The Pope' in the Toon goal pulled doon Wissa in the box and straight away aa thought 'penalty' az the ref pointed to the spot!

Mbeumo took it and sent the baall to the right of Pope to level the scores!

They were very unlucky a few minutes later when a Pinnock heeder hit the left hand post, but thankfully the baall reboonded straight into Pope's hands! (THAT'S wot the goalframe iz for---to stop the other team scorin'!)

Just when we thought that the game would end az a draw, oot of nowhere in the 74th minute, Sandro Tonali hit a tremedous rocket shot from the East Stand side of the pitch from a very tight angle and the baall flew into the far corner of the goal, with Flekken in the Brentfaad goal faalin backwards into the nettin in hiz attempt to reach the baall!

The roar from the crowd woz deafenin' az Tonali stood arms raised on an advertisin hoardin' to take the aclaim of the masses!

2-1 to us!

Wor visitors tried in vain to find a 2nd equaliser, (and nealy did twice!) and after 9 minutes of stoppage time the ref finally blew the whistle to end the game and end Brentfaad's winnin away streak!

The win lifts us up to the 5th Champions Leegue place, for the time bein' at least az Chelseee take on Sporz tooneet and a win or a draw for Chelseee will drop us doon to 6th place again!  "Come on yoo Sporz!" (The game iz live on SKY at 8:00 bells' tooneet)

Attendance: 52,021 (aboot 800 Beez Kneez)

THE TOON V THE BEEZ KNEEZ OF BRENTFAAD *** TOONEET!

 Posted ‘high noon bells’🕭Wedinzday 2nd April 2025 🏆

"ONE FOR SORROW! *** TWO FOR JOY!"🏆

"1,256 DAYS TO WIN SILVERWARE!"

That's🠝how many days it haz taken NUFC to win a major trophy from the PIF takeower on 7th Octobaa 2021 when we looked certain for relegation to The Championship! 🠞🠞🠞 Fast forward to 16th March 2025 and we have a team winnin' a major cup final!---A truely remarkable tornaroond!

*It seems ages since we won the Leegue Cup, but of course its just 16 days ago since the Wembley triumph---and now, after the huge victory parade through the streets on Saturday, we are back doon to Orth with a very important Premyaa Leegue home game v Brentfaad tooneet! (23 days since wor 1-0 victory at West 'am in wor last Premyaa Leegue game!)

The west Londoners are nee mugs az they beat us 4-2 back at their place on the 7th of December, when wor defence woz at sixes and sevens!---A bad day at the office for certain!--But then we beat them 3-1 in the Leegue Cup qwaataa final, just ower a fortneet later to gain revenge!

NUFC sit in the 6th place in the table and just 1 point behind Man Citih in 5th place and 2 behind Chelseee, who are 4th!

The Beez Kneez are 6 points behind us in 11th place!

The chasin pack of Brightin, Fulim, Villa and Bournemoooth are breathin doon wor neck and so 3 points iz vital at SJP to keep wor Champions Leegue dreams alive!

Of course we have aalready qualified for The Europa Conference by virtue of winnin the Leegue Cup, but we have much higher ambitions that this 3rd best European tournament, with The Europa Leegue the 2nd best option and (of course!) The Champions Leegue 'holy grail' in forst place!

Anthony Gordon iz still suspended and 'Steady Eddie' iz hopeful that the injury he picked up for Ing-er-land in the International break will be 'sorted' for wor away game at Lestaa next Munday!

Sven Botman iz aalso close to a retorn, but not for a couple of games yet!

The Toon have 10 'cup finals' left in wor quest for Champions Leegue futbaall for the 2nd time in 3 years!

A full Geordie Times match report will appear here sometime on Thorzday!----Az per usual!!!*** "Watch this space!"
