"IT WOZ 50 YEARS AGO TODAY---THAT AA WENT TO SEE NEW-CAS-IL PLAY!"

Posted '2:00pm bells' 1st March 2019

50 years ago today aa went to West Ham to watch NUFC in an old 1st Division game at The Boleyn Groond, more commonly known az Upton Park, and by coincidence we are playin them at their new stadium tomorrow afternoon!
'The Boleyn' woz of course demolished 2 years ago to make way for a hoosin estate, while 'The Jellied Eels Mob' moved to the Olympic Stadium 4 miles away and renamed it 'London Stadium'
An archive match report from aall those years ago iz printed below alang with one from wor forst visit to their 'new abode' just ower a year ago!

"AND 'BACK TO THE FUTURE'!"

Meeenwhile, tomorrow, we heed for eest Landan in a more confident mood after 2 home wins in 3 days to propel us up to 13th in the table! (wor joint highest of the season!)

Of course we are still not safe from relegation, with one of the three places still to be filled (we 'fink' that 'uddersfeeeld and Fulim are aalready doomed!)

We are six points from 'the drop zone', but when we were in 'the smoke' (London) in January, we were in the bottom 3 after wor narrow 2-1 defeat at Chelski!

Lets hope we can get sommik tomorrow! (we won 3-2 there last season!) Aall 2,900 away tickets available were snapped up lang ago!

A Geordie Times match report will appear here on Sunday mornin', az a'm travellin' back on the train then. (A'm dein' it on mee mobile!)
(The kick off time of '5:30 bells' for live telly, makes it virtually impossible to make the last train back on Saturday neet!)
